New brakes on the MazdaSpeed3!
I drove 75 miles down to Findlay, OH and my buddy Tab Tanner installed new front brakes and rotors on my 2010 MazdaSpeed3. At 64k, the old ones were shot and he ordered the Akebono ceramic brakes and rotors for me. We had a quick breakfast and then he went to work and replaced the parts, then rebalanced the winter tires (they were all off balance) and we noted the rear brakes were fine. Less than an hour later I was back on the road, heading home.
The Speed3 has 263hp, 280ft/lbs of torque and is FWD, so the front brakes are huge and they do the majority of the braking, so I'm not surprised at their coondition and the rears being very slightly worn. I'm very happy that Tab took care of my car on his day off and did the same high quality work he's always done on my cars. He's a great guy and I feel more confident going into the winter driving season with new front brakes and excellent (but on their last winter) Blizzak tires...

I checked and was surprised to find out that Akebono's are made in the US and the company is out of Farmington Hills, MI!

Bill,
Yep, Tab is one of the good guys, for sure! I met him on this forum and he took pity on me and the troubles I was having with my '74 911 Targa and he drove up to Waterford Hills, picked up the car, towed it back to his shop, fixed it and called me the next AM and told me what the problem was (old burglar alarm system interfering with the ignition and fuel pump circuits). Tab and I became friends and he is one of the best guys I know and I'm proud to call him a friend!
