Boxster Crash
In picture #3 (at the bottom) you can see the road she was travelling on.
Possibly speeding.... Crashes leave mangled mess | Local | News | The London Free Press |
That was a HARD shunt... That boxster is darn near folded in half through the rockers....
angela |
They had to cut the roof off so it likely was not a Boxster. It is hard to tell with what remains.
|
It's a Boxster, roll hoops right behind the seats, side air vent, parts of the convertible top still there.
Ugly. |

In England...?
A Chrysler 300 and two GMC trucks in the pic (one looks like it has a US plates)? Looks like Iowa or something. |

"Speed well in excess of 100 km/h."
Uh, I hit that in my driveway. |

And that was witnesses estimate, not an accident reconstruction estimate. |

That did not look lie the London I knew and could not figure out why every car was N American. |
Way to read the article sammy. It's London Ontario Canada. And yeah, 100 km/h or 60 mph is a pretty high rate of speed for a city street no matter how you look at it. I thought you were the law-and-order type?

It's a 50km/hr zone so she was 30mph over the speed limit. A Rennlister's sister-in-law btw.
Ian |
I'd always heard that if you go from a speed as low as 35mph to zero instantly, it can be fatal.
Anybody else hear this, too? KT |
Looking at the car, I'm amazed she wasn't killed.
|
She was probably doing twice the speed limit and didn't stop after the first accident because she was late for her latte meet with the girls.
|
Firefighters jackets say Middlesex London. That will not buff right out.

I think you will find that Jaguars always were(except once rotted out-just like any American car then) and still are, pretty strong cars bodily.
|
Im concerned they want be able to match the paint.
|
Was the Boxster struck from the rear after it struck the 300? Looks like heavy damage to both ends. Pretty astonishing the driver is not deceased.
|
There are much worse things than dying....

I've known some First Responders during my life. Their stories reduce me to tears. Apparently when they first arrive at the scene their training takes over, and they focus on doing what needs to be done. But then later... *sigh*
They are special people. I wonder if they know that? _ |
Just to continue the story . . .
The driver - 30 yr old woman - hit one vehicle, drove through part of a soccer field, went back on the road & sped south & had the 2nd accident. She has had multiple surgeries & has brain trauma. Luckily the drivers & passengers in the other cars only had relatively minor injuries. The reporter logged into Rennlist yesterday & tried to make contact with the Rennlister who is related to the driver . . . Ian |
Wow even at 100km that car crushed badly at the doors, I think it wouldn't pass a crash safety test.

He said "when you see (severely brain injured people) you realize that there are things alot worse than the big dirt nap. Alot worse..." For the son, his injury, serious as it was, did allow for a certain amount of recovery. I ran into him a few years later (at the same event). Didn't realize who he was. There was a band playing and he asked me to dance. Never one to turn down a dance, I accepted! Afterward, I realized who it was and actually cried with joy. He had recovered enough that he could dance! I will remember the father, his son, and that joyous dance for the rest of my life. angela |
Great story, Angela! The BIL in the rennlist thread would probably be happy to hear it. His SIL isn't doing too well.

Yes it would appear to be the Porsche drivers fault. However, if the 300 driver had checked the intersection when the lights changed, no collision.
I tell all my students ALWAYS check the intersection even if your light has been green for a while. One day someone will run a red on you. It might be the day before your 60th birthday, or at the next set we go through. |
Or...you might find yourself in Californai, where light running seems to be the rule.
