If not P-cars, what is you primary auto interest?
I know this is a P-car and BMW site, but if those arent your main automotive genre , what is?
While I love my Porsche,( its my third) my first and main love is muscle cars and hotrods in general. Especially old Fords. Second is trucks. followed by bikes. I'm just an overall gearhead. I like anything that moves, floats, flys, etc, etc... |
easy!! early 4x4's!! early bronco, FJ40's..or some landrover defender would make me forget aircooled for awhile.
i also love early hotrods. 69 Z-28, pontiac JUDGE..whatever. i would love it. but i have a wee one-car garage. |
Another gearhead here. I love Porsches, but also enjoy just about anything else that is fun or unique. I work in the aircraft industry because I enjoy planes and flying as well. People that are brand snobs are totally missing out.
|
My next vehicle purchase will be an early Bronco one way or another.
|
I always loved the mid-to-late 60s muscle cars & pony cars, from the Big 3. I had two Mustang coupes, a '65 and a '66.
I'd love to have a '65-on Corvair Corsa w/ 4-spd. |

Monster Trucks!!!
Grave digger is soooooo kewl! But seriously... I know I will get flamed for this... but I am loving the new American retro muscle cars. If I had $50-60 K burning a hole in my pocket I would run out and buy one of these (in order of preference) 1.Corvette 2.Camero (Yes I know, but an old flame from my youth) 3.Cadillac CTS (Yes, my dad was a GM guy) The more I think about it this may be #1 4.Dodge Challenger 5.Mustang Honorable mention, the V6 group 370Z Hyundai Genesis coupe |
I like old English cars such as Austin Healy 106 , Jaguar XKE , Mini Cooper , bug eyed Sprite and even Morris Minor , Land Rovers . 1950's pick ups and late 60's cameros.
Damn I like them all as I have been car crazy all my life. |
My interest of Porsche begins and ends with the pre 89 911. Any other car made by Porsche has zero interest. All my other interest is with BMW's and some Audi's. IF money was no object, there would be a Ferrari in my garage but you got the draw the line somewhere.:(
|
None.
All of the other cars I own/have owned - Audi & BMW included - are appliances. Some are more fun than others but still appliances. I just want the damn things to work. To me, the classic 911 stands alone. Ian |
|
air cooled VWs and old pickup trucks! I also like big American Chrysler products of the 40s and 50s.

Trucks, SUVs, (4WD) but have no interest in fixing or doing anymore then driving them. I love to restore a Power wagon or any light duty Military service trucks when i grow up one day.
Oh, a 40s truck would be cool to monkey with. |
^^^^^That is the same color as my first car, a '62 bug!
My main interest is Corvairs, mainly the '65-'69 models. |
my toy is a modern hot rod
mid eng DOHC 4v v8 300 hp 5 speed a fiero with a caddy northstar swap almost a bolt in it has custom tube a-arms coil overs vett 13'' brakes the 944 is the wife's ride |
Still get a thrill from my 911 whenever I fire it up (84 3.2l).
But for real thrills, it's hard to beat a Formula Car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352929726.jpg Ran SCCA races for a number of years. Been getting the itch to jump back in....financial realities be damned! Also drive an E39 M5 (2002). Gotta love the torque! The one thing lacking from a 3.2l 911...... :D |
the first 'car' I bought when I was young was a air-cooled VW Westphalia camper. One day I'd love to get an old 25-ish window bus!
I just recently picked up an 83 Ferrari 308 QV. Lots of fun and relatively easy to work on! If I had room (and more $$ laying around), I'd happily get a few more F models :) Of course I still want to have one of every Porsche model... |
As a kid in high school in the early 2000s, the import scene was first and foremost. And while I do have a soft spot for one Honda (third generation Acura Integras), my second love is the first generation DSM. Still have a 1990 Eclipse as an eternal project.

Watching the Magnus/Leno video today got me thinking this very question... I came to the conclusion that Magnus is my Ying and Leno is my Yang...
|
Pretty much done with old cars in general...including "classic early 911"...
Right now enjoying what I have, which is a a fast enough & pleasant highway driver, without the worries of driving something irreplacable. Flame away, but I LIKE having a hassle free car, which this has been. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352944550.jpg |
I'd love an old Willys Jeep truck. I almost bought one before the Carrera.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352944687.jpg |
Porsches first, up to 1973
Land Rovers, also up to 1973 Now Volvos from 1987 and earlier. |
I really like my 99 superduty diesel 4x4 and I was always into Datsun Z cars for years before I got into Porsches.
|
Did you guys know that I'm a motorhead? No REALLY - I am! :D
I have owned, or admired, oh let's just cut to the chase LUSTED for everything from pushrod American iron, to Jaguars, everything German except Audis, an occasional Alfa or Lancia, zesty Subarus, and quite a few rear wheel drive Japanese cars. I like to think that the cars which speak to me longingly do so in many languages. ;) Right now, the "other than Porsche" herd includes a 72 two-wheel drive Blazer, an 87 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe, four (yes FOUR) speedster replica projects - one air cooled VW, the other three will be subie powered, the 550 spyder replica, and my DD - a Ford Edge. A LOWERED Ford Edge. Seriously - who the heck has a lowered ORANGE Ford edge - LOL! angela |
My MazdaSpeed3, old jags, old mustangs, cobras, old BMW's, just about any old cool car!
|
I have many cars outside of P-cars that I'm interested in. The following are ones I plan to own or try to own.
1. 1957 Corvette or a 1956 190SL MB 2. 1986 Renault R5 turbo II 3. Very well made GT-40 replica How can anyone not want an R5? Jean Ragnotti Renault 5 Turbo - YouTube |
Bristols.
Extra points for anyone who has heard of Bristol before. |

That would be an Arnolt Bristol. A gorgeous car, and very desireable. In 1961 still using a variation of the mid to late 30's BMW 327/328 engine, and still quite competitive. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352951471.jpg |

My other toy is my daily driver 1986 El Camino. I have had it for 20 years and it just rolled 310,000 miles.
|
E30 BMWs are talking to me while I am between 911s.
|
I like anything that has the look. Hot rods. Cafe bikes. Slammed wagons. Woodies. Sports cars. Race cars of all kinds. Tubbed Nash Metros-big block or small block, who cares. Meyers Manx dune buggies. Nomads. Weird stuff that just looks good, like this thing a guy from Grants Pass concocted:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352954117.jpg TV Tommys dragster. Beautiful. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352954222.jpg Check out this tidy little '34! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352954469.jpg I like some off the wall stuff that you never ever see like the Facel Vega: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352954604.jpg I'm glad Ralph Lauren is a car guy, he has pretty good taste, and I like his Bugatti: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352954758.jpg Point is, if it looks good to me, I like it. I'll never be able to afford the cars I'd love to afford, but I do get to have a 911 for fun, and a work truck that I spend far too much money on, because I like it. Someday, maybe, I'll trade in the 911 for a rodney, but for now, I just like to look and see all the cool stuff out there..... This is an excellent thread idea. |
I like all things off road, including dirt bikes, trucks, dunebuggy's, etc. I've really had an affinity for older street bikes as of late. I've sold all my porsches and just sold my M Coupe a couple weeks ago. Having too much fun racing dirt bikes, but I will be getting an air-cooled, carbed 911 next, can't wait!
|
Until I got my 911 it was Audi, older BMW, old Dodge Power Wagons, Unimogs, old Mercedes convertibles, and Jags. The 911 has become the new obsession.
Glen - My dad's 83 El Camino just rolled 480,000. |
I'm just an all around gear/motor-head. I come by it naturally. My dad was too, and even my mom liked going fast even though she's grown out of it.
I like American V-8s, I like performance whether it's in a straight line or around corners (preferably left and right). I appreciate the performance of modern sports cars and there are some that I would love to have, but my real love is for classics from the early 70's down (pretty much any 911 from 993 down is a classic to me). The old cars had so much more character and style than most of the new ones. I'm not a big truck guy, but some of them are cool like the Unimog, H1, Jeeps, etc... I can appreciate just about any unique or special vehicle or vehicles with special or extraordinary capabilities. |
My wife and I are car nuts. We've had a bunch of cars and enjoy wrenching on them. I love motorcycles too. My last one was my fav...a KTM 690 Duke. What a hoot!!
My 1994 640HP Supra was my "other" car. Just a fantastic, daily driver. When we're not in the Porsche, my wife and I both have Lexus'. We've had 4 Lexus..and we'll pretty much always have at least one. The Supra: http://imageshack.us/a/img41/6999/suprarearqtr.jpg My classic, one owner 1990 LS400 http://imageshack.us/a/img197/93/ls400001.jpg The wife's IS300..manual. She modded it herself http://imageshack.us/a/img259/8374/is012.jpg An Audi TT I modded to use as a winter beater: http://imageshack.us/a/img217/3419/tt003v.jpg A Honda Insight I had...just to say I once owned a hybrid! Made money on this car when I sold it too! http://imageshack.us/a/img40/8954/insight009.jpg A GS400 I had in a sorta-rare color (Antique Bronze Mica) http://www.clublexus.com/gallery/data/500/GS400.jpg |
