That's 20 USD per twinkie...either people are really, really stupid
Or that seller won't see a dime and they are just bidding for the Lulz with no intent on actually closing the deal once the auction ends.

As if a well known and wanted product won't simply be picked up by another company and production will resume in no time.

Twinkies are like Porsches.... there are no substitutes.

We need the artificial sponge cakes filled with artificial cream filling, with the artificial preservatives upon which we thrive.

News tonight showed people buying out the store of everything they could get. :)

no one is really reading. They will sell the brands to pay the debt and the little things will be on the market again, just not as Hostest

Rick V 11-17-2012 02:18 AM

Hopefully not as a union product either.

It was reported that Mrs. Bairds/Bimbo will probably buy the intellectual property and start producing them.

It is kinda of funny to think of "The Twinkie" as intellectual property!

targa911S 11-17-2012 04:48 AM

Don't kid yourself, those brand names are valuable as hell. Another company will buy those product lines from hostess. They WILL be back.

Twinkles? Eh,... But lose my Ho Ho's? I've been crying for two days...

imcarthur 11-17-2012 05:20 AM

"The Twinkies' unit will probably attract the most potential bidders. Mexican bread company Grupo Bimbo (GRBMF); privately held McKee Foods, which makes Little Debbie snack cakes;Flower Foods (FLO), which owns Tastykake, and Canadian company Weston Foods (WNGRF) are all seen as potential buyers for this division." But will the formulas change? Will the post-Hostess Twinkies taste just like the originals? The new owner might tweak the formula to suit its production equipment. We could lose that special something without which a Twinkie is just a shelf-stabilized wad of sugar and fat. Better buy all the Twinkies you can and store them in a vault, by the Beanie Babies.

tevake 11-17-2012 05:49 AM

Actually the Hostess has warehouses stacked with a bazillion of them and is planning on cashing in on the rush this news has created, pay down their debt. And come out smelling like well preserved roses.

Cheers Richard

Nah. Petrochemicals are petrochemicals . . .

by going away, these products alone may contribute to across the board increased EPA mpg ratings. imagine what could happen if drive-thru's went away!!

widebody911 11-17-2012 02:23 PM

I was in my local supermarket and the entire Hostess section was just gone, as if it had never existed.

Jim Richards 11-17-2012 02:33 PM

Maybe that's a good thing, Thom.

Psych!

Hostess Brands and a key union agreed Monday to try to mediate their dispute -- an unexpected development that could spare the company from permanently shutting down.

bunch of suckers over paying for the stuff...
