Name This Carb Jetting Tool
 

I need a "special" tool to adjust the high and low speed jets on a carb, off of a small 2 stroke engine leaf blower. It's running way rich as set from the factory.

Simple Flat head screwdriver on the jet to turn? Nah.......too simple and effective

Note the round jet screw 3/16" cylinder(s) for the hi/low jets, where some polish rocket scientist designer engineer decided to knotch a small groove down the side of the cylinder to be able to twist. Next to no clearance between the carb flange casting, and the jet screw. Can't even get a micro-size needle nose plier in there to turn the jet. Note the wooden Q-tip shaft for scale. Think Toothpick

I guess the factory engineers decided that heaven forbid people should be able to tune their engines. :rolleyes:

So WHAT is the special tool to be able to adjust this jet? Basically I need a thin-wall pipe with a small notch to engage this jet groove. WHERE do I get this tool?



At least the jet is exposed to turn, unlike other carbs I've worked on that put a brass plug over jets hence to block the consumer from f'ing with them. bassstttaggesss

I have the exact same issue. Replaced the carb on a weed eater and can't adjust A/F due to stupid screws. Factory carb had plastic sleeves that allowed a quarter turn adjustment. Of course they broke when I attempted to remove them for reuse on the new carb.

That's your govt at work, I believe this is mandated by the EPA so you don't mess with them and pollute more. Pretty sad.

I'd dremel a slot in both of them, will not really hurt if you nick the body around them a little. They should turn without much resistance.

I'd get some rubber or acrylic tubing and force it over the end of the needle valve and turn that

I cant imagine it would take much torque to turn...

Thank you for the PACMAN, I put more quarters into that, and Asteroids, and my Favorite JOUST than I may be able to remember.


I can get that packman screwdriver thanks again Sidney, but then it gets cut into 1/3d's as I only have maybe 3" or 4" max with the Leave Blower fan in the way blocking.
