First hand held spoon
I have a few long spoons but this is my first hand held. Just picked it up yesterday and it is supposed to be my Christmas gift from my wife and kids but I can't wait to shoot it. After I picked it up I almost went straight to the range rather than coming home. :D Hopefully I will sneak away this week some time and hit the range.

101 yrs old and still used around the world in combat. Can't go wrong with a 1911
|
Nice spoon. I need to get a 1911. It is a classic.
|
Nice.
|
Excellent choice!!
|
Lube it up!
|
Nice! My first was a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911.
|
You are going to enjoy that!
|
Very nice. Now make it affordable and go get a GSG 1911-22 ... $400 out the door with a couple extra mags and a brick of ammo, makes 1911 fundamentals affordable :)

Slippery slope my friend Jeff.
Now you need to get into reloading to work out that sweet load for that baby. |
The Remington 1911 is a very nice gun. Straight off the blueprints of the original. Good choice.

Keep it wet with FP10..
Slodave actually got oil stains on his tshirt after he had my 1911 in his hands. :D |
oh, and you might wanna consider dremeling a notch in your slide release so you can reassemble it without scratching the frame with it.
Worth doing to avoid the idiot scratch ( i was to late) http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...y/DSCF2318.jpg (mine isn't that bad, but still , it has a scratch). Doing this will make the slide release ride the plunger instead of jumping off and scratching the frame.. You can push it straight down with this notch. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../slidestop.jpg |

Went to the range yesterday and put about 150 rounds through it. Oiled well before and every 50 rounds. Had a great time and the spoon preformed flawlessly.
I took my 11 year old and went with a buddy. I brought a little 22 ladle (long spoon) that my Grandmother taught me to shoot on and my buddy brought a few 22 spoons. I taught my 11 year old to shoot on the ladle and then he shot a 22 spoon, a .38 and my 45. He was quickly holding a good pattern at 10 yards with the 22's. No pics since my phone died just prior to getting there, piss poor planning on my part. I think there are a few 22 hand spoons in my near future so the family can go to the range (but I am thinking an AR before they are banned :) ) |
Another way to avoid the :Idoit mark" is to slide a razor blade between the slide stop and the plunger tube to depress the plunger. Once the blade is there you should be able to lift the slide stop up.
|
yeah, but you gotta keep a razor blade around to do it.
and the blade itself can scratch the frame as well. notching the slide release is a one time deal, it works like a charm.. and once done it's much easier to get your slide release re-installed, they should simply do that by default on all new slide releases.. it's that good. |
