NJ is the hot dog capital of the world-deep fried in beef fat at Rutt's Hut, 'all the way' Paterson or Plainfield style with chili, raw onion, and mustard at the Hot Grill, Johnny and Hanges, or Manny's Texas Weiner, the Italian Hot Dog at Jimmy Buffs with peppers, onions, and potatoes on a pizza roll, griddled custom made beef and pork dogs at the Galloping Hill Inn-we've got a million of them.

The 9th Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour - Hot Dog Stories

Next year will be the tenth annual NJ Hot Dog tour, with attendees from many states and even other countries.

Almost 100 hot dog fans visiting a variety of NJ hot dog providers, with commentary by the US's best know hot dog savant, John Fox, who's been on many TV shows about hot dogs.

Charlie's Pool Room in Alpha, NJ, is right over the border from PA however.

Sorry, but google isn't always your friend. Of all the hot dog joints covered in the national media I've never seen one mentioned from New Castle. Not to say they aren't good, but even Philly isn't really known for hot dogs and they have a lot of great regional food.

Donuts. Bleah. There's a frikkin' Dunkin Donuts on every street corner it seems. The last time I had a real donut was at the Krispy Kreme in Long Beach. One of our subcontractors brought Dunkin Donuts to a job meeting so I tried one a couple of years ago. Gross. Total greasy fat pill with sugar. Never again. At least they generally have okay bathrooms and are open late if driving around and in need of one they make a good place to run in and go pee. Some of the other menu offerings don't look terrible but I'm in no hurry...

Boston and the New England area in general is weird - it has a combination of really great, world-class food (at the nice expensive places) that rivals cuisine anywhere and really dreadful, bland, awful fare (typically the run-of-the-mill stuff for the masses).

I have found a good Indian, Thai (x2) and Chinese place though so generally speaking I'm good. I'd love to find a good Chicago-style pizza joint but am still looking. There's a great pizza place (Santarpios) that I like but their speciality is thin, not deep dish.

I'm getting hungry reading all of the responses. In Chi-town: Hot dogs, pizza and Italian beef sammies.

When I moved here in 73 there were orange groves everywhere, now there might be one left, maybe? Strawberry fields all over the place then too.

Real estate here became too valuable to grow stuff on.

Nothing noteworthy on food from Kentucky including the fried chicken aka KFC. But things to drink, lust after, wager on & smoke.. hey now, that a whole new topic!

Yea I think even Knotts Berry Farm finally sold out a couple years ago - IIRC they were one of the last holdouts that had some acreage that they for years refused to sell off, opting to grow fruits on it... Now it's probably more McMansions or overpriced condos.
