Son's Football Championship Game, Don't Open If You Don't Like Me :-)

Max finished out the 8th grade season. He had fun. Rich with stories. I just have to share some of these pics from the championship game. Its Texas and Football is spelled with a capital!!!

He is #68, notice the green tape on his shoes - thats so Mom can see him from the stands - she really can't but he doesn't know that...

He plays Center, stays somewhat low but when your one of the shortest on the team you have to!

Caught Holding...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1353434968.jpg

Getting chewed out by Coach, he responded "No one gets my QB sir! No One!" Coach patted his helmet sent him back in...

He told me after the game that they were keying in on one big guy, here they were sharing line stories about the trash talk going on...

Karma sucks! Got a helmet to the elbow. Big stinger!!!

Looking at the crowd. I remember this one - I yelled out to him to dig down and that there was no one better. He actually told me he likes it when I cheer for him. Thats nice. :)

My favorite shot...halftime, working towrds the win. Listening to Coach with eyes of a Champ...

They won...

Congrats Mike! And congrats to your son. Those pictures are inspiring. I hope I'm as proud of my own boy someday. :)

Congrats. Looks like you're doing a great job with him. I have fond memories of playing PAL, jr high and high school football.

Congratulations you have every right to be proud and your son of himself.

Well done.

Boy, he sure reminds me of my son who just completed 8th grade football, this was his 6th year of playing, and he plays the entire game on offense (tackle) and defense (middle linebacker) because of the small number of players available (16).

He is good enough at what he does to read the plays as they develop and have fun at it, just like it looks your boy does.

My son was also one of the short ones, but grew 2" in the summer before the season, 1.5" during the season, and 1" since the season was over a month ago, and should (according to my wife and I's height 5'8" and 5'11"), be one of the taller guys on the team by the time he is done with high school.

It will be neat to look back at these pictures years from now and recall the fond memories.

I don't think they allow parents on the sidelines...;)

Nice shots, Mike!

Enjoy him, they grow up fast and then become one of us... which is even better :-)

MBAtarga 11-20-2012 11:22 AM

Wow - he looks just like you Mike!

Too bad!

M.D. Holloway 11-20-2012 11:34 AM

A friend of mine took the pics - used to shoot for SI now he is freelance. Yes, has a very big lens!

As for looking like me? Hmmm, many folks say he is a mini-me, I think he is better looking.

Cool pics! Strange thread title.

M.D. Holloway 11-20-2012 11:39 AM

the thread is self serving - I'm so proud of the kiddos and love them so much that I find my self always bragging and wanting to share. Anyone who isn't into 'Team Holloway" was warned...only fair...

Great pics!

My son just finished his 7th grade season.

He mainly plays left tackle.

I had to congratulate him on getting a 15 yard play....holding #26 from the spot of the foul. :-)

QB didn't get hit, though.

Best part is that it happened two plays after I told him to watch the hold. Him, of course, knowing everything at 12 years old gave me the "daaaa'ad" I know what I am doing comment.

Just bit my lip and smiled when he incurred the penalty.

Congrats Mike

My 10 YO just won his championship baseball game here in FL. The little sucker has in his arsenal a Two Seamer, Four Seamer, Circle Change, and Knuckle Ball. Pretty cool to watch!

Baseball is to Florida as Football is to Texas........

Lube..thanks for the pics and please don't stop pumping out those peacock feathers, your son is awesome.

As a ski racing coach for 25 yrs, I would always tell the parents, its better that your son or daughter loves ski racing and even thou its expensive more than you can afford, its cheaper than paying a rehab center and a counselor and your end product is a awesome skier that will ski for life.

Congratulations, Mike, get ready for some of the best years of his life. I spent four wonderful years watching my son play Quarterback at the highest level of prep High School football in the country, and it was an experience I'll never forget. Cherish every minute of it. Take every opportunity to attend games, and even practice. If he's interested in the greatest sport ever created, and he wants to read about what makes teams great, pick him up a copy of When the Game Stands Tall.

O-line is fun!! Get to be up in someone's grill every down and maybe plant a sleepy safety from time to time!

porsche4life 11-20-2012 04:43 PM

Congrats Mike!

How's he doing in Scouting?

ckissick 11-20-2012 04:44 PM

Well, I can brag about my kids, too.

Here's my 6th grader, Leah, on the left, coming in for the finish in the championship race. She's about to pass her best friend for a 2nd place finish. Not bad, considering the race was for 5th through 8th grade. The winner was an 8th grader, so we're hoping for some 1st place finishes next year.

And here she is with her silver medal, being interviewed by the local sports reporter. Her first press conference!
