+P is a higher horsey power round. ie. HIGHER SAMMI pressures. some spoons are made for it some are NOT! thats why ya check to see before hand if they will accept them.

more ummph more horseypower higher velocity.................as always a downfall is more recoil.

a smith airweight model 60 scandium type frame is not a +P spoon. they make also +P+ etc.

metallurgy has changed drastically over the years for good and for bad. i used to think HOLY POO a SCANDIUM SMITH .44 MAG! my dream bear carry spoon.

well as always ya gets good and bad ying and yang and the scandiums(airweights) will NOT TOLERATE HIGHER SAMMI PRESSURES +P's and HOT RELOADS and since they are lightweight all that RECOIL is GREATER NOW to YOUR HAND which turns it into a OUCH SPOON! and when its an OUCH SPOON............well you aint gonna be able to shoot it accurate as you anticipate the OUCH before firing!

joebob just PM'd me regarding an issue with a box of remington .357's he had a round that was not properly seated and FTF(failed to feed) properly.

if yer gonna carry a spoon every day every night every damn where ya go, like i do.............ya wanna buy the BEST ammo ya can. preferably the exact samo as the lokal cops around you. if cops carry federal, YOU CARRY FEDERAL HYDRASHOCKS! its a jury thang if ya get involved in a justified homicide. if ya carry bunker buster mega curare tipped mega grain bullets the prosecuting attorney will portray YOU as a GUN NUT!

i do not trust reloads hunting or carry unless you have been doing it forever. nuff said there.

but what i did mention to joe bob, is when one day yer bored lonely looking for something to do...............pull yer carry spoon out, clean it once a week of lint, drop the shells out of cylinder or mag, take a airgun and blow all the dust/lint off, and............take a dial caliper and measure each and every round for OVER ALL LENGTH! it will take ya maybe 10 minutes of yer life to BE SURE that each and every round is CORRECT OVER ALL LENGTH which FREEKING NEGATES just about any and ALL FEED ISSUES.

im gonna do this this early am on my model 29 smith nickel .44 mag. i am taking this for my elk hunt across my chest. 10 minutes drinking a cup of coffee and grab my reloading manual and find out exact dead nutz OVER ALL LENGTH of the round and make damn sure I dont have a FEED ISSUE while hunting bull elk.

now yes joe bobs issue is very damn rare on a wheel spoon. but on a semi auto.............well it is the difference btwn life and death if ya have a FTF or FTE.

and trust me as the sun comes up in the east, there is NOTHING FREEKING WORSE THAN GETTING SHOT BY SOME POS $25 crap saturday night special by some moron retard ghetto hood punk, while you are fumbling with yer mega buck badazz semi auto because of a FTF or FTE!

so lets review:

if i carry daily i will:

1) remove spoon once a week and blow off all lint dust

2) empty cylinder or mag and check each round for any FUBARS. ie bent bullet, damage to bullet.

3) carry the SAME round cops do

4) take my dial caliper and check each and EVERY ROUND as if MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT for OVER ALL LENGTH! because yer dum azz LIFE DOES DEPEND ON THIS!

5) be a NINJA!

heres a few of my "smith" family. i love 'em. last year a friend of ours was hunting bull elk here. got off of his quad, realized he needed some more fuel for quad. decided to hop in truck to get more fuel a few miles away. he starts heading down forest service road. and guess what he sees????????????

yepper a bunch of bulls running together parallel to road. he stops truck, jumps out with a 6 " smith .44 and legally steps off of dirt roadbed.................. KA-POW............AND BEANS HIS BULL ELK! "he dunned stoved up in a heap o dust!"

and thats why ya also ALWAYS CARRY A PISTOL!

.380
.38
9mm
.45

for bad peoples

.357
.41 mag
.44 mag
10mm
.454
.460 is pushing the envelope!

for bad kritters

heres overall length for:

.44 mag= 1.61" or 41mm

.357 mag= 1.59" or 40mm

ok i just put 2 rounds of hornaday .44 mag 225gr FTX on my dial caliper and heres what i found out of the box bought yesterday:

#1 rd =41.81mm

#2 rd=41.77mm

so there ya have it in black and white. despite buying brand NEW high quality spendy ammo, ya still get variances in dimensions. the ONLY way IS RELOADING YERSELF and that opens a whole new arena for failure on yer part unless ya do it RIGHT the 1st time.

NOW IS THAT ENUFF IMPETUS TO MAKE YA WANNA USE YER DIAL CALIPER ON YER CARRY AND HUNTING ROUNDS?????

yer ONLY GONNA HAVE (1) CHANCE TO DO IT RIGHT!

crap my battery is dying on my dial caliper. oh well that just got shelved until i can hit walgreens and get another battery for my digital dial calipers.

so yes the 6 rds i carry for elk will all be dial calipered. im gonna do my 9mm carry rounds also. hey WTF its something to do that GIVES YA A REAL WARM FUZZY and best of all....................ITS FREE!
