Stocking up on magazines -- what capacity?

I would say a mix since you're moving. If you don't take a 30 round out in public, how could they ever know you have them? Keep those at home and take the lower capacity ones to the range. I just picked up a 30 round Magpul AR magazine for $14.99 at Cabelas.

Can you put a plug in the 30 round version to limit it to 21 rounds? 15 round in a rifle is BS.

Brownells has a good price on a qty. of 10 (Pmag 30's)...

As big as you can find. I'm sure a lot of the restrictions in your area were knee-jerk reactions to Columbine - not unexpected. This administration will be looking to crush private gun ownership and in particular ammunition and associated items like clips, drums, etc. I've been loading up (no pun); living in one of the few remaining states which actually seems to uphold constitutional principles helps but even this state is starting to circle the drain down the liberal/socialist cesspool by electing a rabidly anti-gun governor. On the upside the pending permit less concealed-carry law in the legislature probably still has a veto-proof majority so I hope it gets through soon.

These are dark times for the Republic...

If you keep your high-cap magazines dissasembled, they aren't magazines, they're repair kits. At least, that's the law here in Cali. For example, for an extra dollar, Cole's will covert a mag to a repair kit before shipping it here.

I vote for staying in AZ or any other state that respects the Constitution. But if you must, Magpul makes very good 20-round magazines. I have a few simply for use with my varmint AR--less likely to interfere with shooting off a bipod on uneven ground.

I usually buy 30 rd. P-mags in batches of five for under $60 delivered.

30 rds for home
10 or 20 rounds at the range... the 30 is just to tall and get's in the way when shooting prone.
