Check the trunnion and the shaft. Pull the blade and turn the saw on. Put the tip of ball point pan into the dimple at the end of the shaft and feel for wobble. If it wobbles, then the shaft is bent. Pretty to bend a 5/8" harden metal shaft unless its been twisted pretty hard when cutting large sheet good. Even then, the blade will flex first to take the blunt of the stress, but it does happen.

I finally had a chance to take a look at the Ridgid saw this evening; very clean and well cared for saw. I struck a deal at $275 and will be picking it up this weekend.
