Chuck Berry kicking ass at 2:06?
For you musicians, is Chuck kicking the upright string bass player's butt at 2:06 and then telling him he did the right string adjustment at 2:18?
I love this song. I read he wrote it in jail and asked for a US map to connect the dots. Workin' on a t-bone steak, A la cart-E Chuck Berry-Promise Land live (Paris) - YouTube |
This was my first exposure to Chuck Berry ;)
I think they do him proud <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CnZGrbRdpJA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
No, that's probably coincidence.
What is cool though: You'll notice that the other guitar player is off to Chuck's left, perpendicular to Chuck. Especially in the beginning of the song, Chuck always fades away to his left so the 2nd guitar player can see his hands to verify what chord they're on. The piano player can see the 2nd guitar player's hands to verify the chord. The bass player leans into the piano to verify with the piano player. When Chuck moves the headstock of his guitar round in a circle after each verse, that means another verse is coming, and not a solo. It's a wild ride! It's highly unlikely the band knew what songs they were going to play, or in what key. |
Chuck is a dick...just ask Keith.

Chuck was running video cameras in the restrooms in his bar in Wentzville, MO a few years back...

I've got a Chuck Berry CD in the car... the wife keep taking it out of the CD player and replacing it... one of my favorites though.
