Well, looks like some of you were right....
NYC homeless man shoeless again despite boots

9:25AM EST December 3. 2012 - NEW YORK (AP) — The New York City homeless man — whose gift of boots from an NYPD police officer became an online sensation — is back on the streets with no shoes.

The New York Times found him Sunday night wandering barefoot in Manhattan. The paper identified him as Jeffrey Hillman.

Asked about the $100 all-weather boots Officer Larry DePrimo gave him on Nov. 14, Hillman says he's hidden them because "they are worth a lot of money."

He says he's grateful for the gift, but he wants "a piece of the pie" because the photo was posted online "without permission."

An Arizona tourist snapped the photo of the officer presenting new boots to Hillman. It went viral after it was posted on the NYPD's Facebook page.

Guess he never signed that model's release.....

Good on the cop. We need more LEOs like him. It would help to rid the world of miserable, bitter complainers.

Some of are realists, who have the courage to face the truth and deal with it, while others cowardly ignore the truth and try to live in a pretend make-believe world and critisize those who speak the truth and make their voices angry.

Jeffrey Hillman, New York City Homeless Man, Barefoot Again After Officer Larry DePrimo Bought Him Boots

NEW YORK -- The New York City homeless man – whose gift of boots from an NYPD police officer became an online sensation – is back on the streets with no shoes.

The New York Times ( Homeless Man Says He’s Grateful for Boots but He’s Barefoot Again - NYTimes.com ) found him Sunday night wandering barefoot in Manhattan. The paper identified him as Jeffrey Hillman, formerly of South Plainfield, N.J.

Asked about the $100 all-weather boots Officer Larry DePrimo gave him on Nov. 14, Hillman says he's hidden them because "they are worth a lot of money."

An Arizona tourist snapped the photo of the officer presenting new boots to Hillman. It went viral after it was posted on the NYPD's Facebook page.

Family of Homeless Boot Recipient Says He Is Welcome Anytime

Family of Homeless Boot Recipient React -- Daily Intel

The family of 54-year-old Jeffrey Hillman, the homeless man who was photographed in Times Square accepting a pair of new boots from nice cop Lawrence DePrimo, was understandably surprised to learn that their relative was the subject of the viral picture. Hillman's sister-in-law, a Pennsylvania church administrator, told the New York Post that she'd heard about the story on TV, but she didn't recognize her brother-in-law — who has apparently been on and off the streets for decades — until she saw the image on the front page of the newspaper. "The last time we heard from him was maybe a year ago on New Year’s Day," she said. "Once a year, he calls us to let us know he’s OK." His niece, a producer living in Maryland, said that her uncle is "well aware" that he was always welcome in his family's home, but he "has his own life, and he's chosen that life." The city has taken a similarly hands-off approach, as police commissioner Ray Kelly explained: "We're not looking for him. He has shoes now. He’s much more difficult to spot." While we didn't really expect the NYPD to try to track Hillman down, it would be nice if Kelly would maintain the heartwarming spirit of the story by not joking about his situation.

He wants a peice of the pie? That photo isn't making anyone any money. The photographer gave it away.
