That triggered some more that I remembered.

The Stranger. I liked it a lot in HS, and liked it a lot when I read it again a couple of years ago.

The Great Gatsby. I liked it ok in HS. Read it again in the last year or so. To me, it's ok. IMO Fitzgerald is, overall, one of the most overrated writers.

Call of the Wild is a great boook.

So is The Scarlet Letter.

After that...yeah...Catcher, Fehrenheit 451, Don Quixote, Grapes of Wrath.

Not really high school...

In College I had to read "Atlas Shrugged" and "The source."

I still go back and read both of them (atlas more often) and love both of them!

Frankenstein is one of my all time favorites. I've read it two or three times since high school.

I used to read a lot. Lately, don't seem to have time for it, except when I am on vacation maybe. Everything I read is periodicals, medical journals and car magazines.

I never have re-read books much. When I know what is coming, sort of discourages me from continuing. If it is actual literature, Steinbeck or Hemingway or whoever, I will read it again. About the only thing that was assigned to me in school that I actually did read more than once was Mark Twain.

Kinda sucks, but I'm now old enough to remember liking some books a lot but remembering little about them, so I enjoy re-reading them again. I'm currently wrapping up "Lucifer's Hammer" and it's wild how dated it seems now, as well as interesting to see how much modern disaster epics owe to it.

Most of the books I read in HS I've enjoyed more reading again, partially because good literature is often better the second time, and partially because I'm more able to enjoy it. I liked Gatsby in high school, liked it more in university, and loved re-reading it a year or 2 ago. Robertson Davies' Deptford Trilogy - come to think of it, it's time to reread those. Shakespeare I've more or less left in high school. I loved it then, not as much now. I remember reading The Mosquito Coast, and I'd really like to read that again.

I didn't read a few of the staples of literature in HS that I've absolutely loved as an adult: Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn - loved them. Great Expectations - very difficult read but loved. War and Peace - yep, I made it all the way through and loved it. For Whom the Bell Tolls - maybe my all time favourite.

We read a fair bit of Canadian stuff, and unfortunately a lot of it wasn't great, which is a real shame, because some of the best books I've ever read are Canadian. They just picked some of the worse ones. The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence. Uggh. Hated that book.
