When my wife and I got married in 1978 we could only afford a mobile home we didn't want to rent. The winter of 1979 ( I think ) we consistantly were having days of -30+ wind chill. The water pipe from the ground to the inlet of the trailer ( aprox. 30 ' ) froze solid WITH a electric heat tape and fiberglass insulation wrap ! I remember crawling under the trailer and removing the 30 foot of pipe and bringing it in the trailer to thaw it out. Then crawled back under to reinstall, I was frozen to the core !!! In those temps it's amazing how cold items like wrenches can be even with gloves on. We lived in Owego N.Y. at the time. Pretty in the spring/fall but a ***** in the winter.......don't miss it at all :D.

1984, on the side of a mountain in South Korea fueling m60 main battle tanks. It was -60 with windchill and that was the coldest I've ever been.

The older I get, the colder I get. I'm 67 now and if it gets colder than that, I start looking for a sweater.

I forgot to mention I spent over an hour with a heat gun trying to thaw the pipe out before deciding that was futile and then removed the pipe. I remember turning the shutoff valve in the ground and hearing groaning noise from the valve, it was cold to :D. We had a wood stove in the trailer I layed the pipe on the wood stove and had buckets on both ends, took a little while but then water was running out of both ends. Oh great time to crawl back under the trailer :D. Never again !
