London Blitz: Bomb Sight interactive map
 

For WWII aficionados, the University of Portsmouth in the UK created an interactive map that allows you to see where all of the bombs dropped during the London Blitz.

It is very sobering to see what the city endured.

Incredible. It's hard to imagine living through that.

They certainly "had at it". My ex sister in law remembers hiding under a table with her mother and older sister during the Blitz. She was 2 at the time. Her father went to work one day and never came home. He was a machinist in a factory that got bombed.

I hope the Germans create a similar site about Dresden.

Great.... my studio is one of the red dots...
It is amazing how much is still visible even in central London... if you know what you are looking for and htis certainly helps.

Mom & her 2 little brother were on the receiving end of the allies bombing ...
the stories of what they did to survive are humbling..
and this goes for both sides...

the tale off..
stuffing your brothers into a trash can for protection..
still makes them laugh..
