The bad weather hit here, and there were lots of wrecks, so the frame guy was busy as can be. I'm not in a hurry, so we postponed for a few weeks. He called me this week, said that he cleared up a spot for me, and just so happens that he needs some of my expertise , so we will do a little horse trading. I stripped off all the sheet metal that he asked me to , and I'm dragging it over to his place in the morning. Should have it back in a week , or so, then I get to play body man. I'm just having him pull the rails, and make sure that the core support, and bumper supports are where they need to be, and then I'll screw it all back together from there.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1359761142.jpg

Are you providing him with new panels to confirm gaps, etc.?

Cool project. Nice job on the tools. I had a tbelt in one lined up until I looked up the job, didnt see the point in a tool for a one off job.
Too bad they dont have a wrx 2door here, I'd be very interested. |
You only need the cam tools if you are removing the cam sprockets . If you are just going in to do a timing belt/ water pump, no special tools are needed. I frequently see that the plastic timing belt covers that are behind the sprockets are cracked from all the heat of the exhaust on the right side, so I am always having to pull off both cam sprockets on that bank to replace the covers . I had one come in where the plastic cover had cracked, and the pieces fell into the timing belt and it jumped time.
And yes, I am providing him with all the sheetmetal, so that he can verify fit , and panel gap while he is pulling. |
My old 914's current owner has done the Subie swap and has a Elise suspension/brake package under it........but the 901 trans lives. It's like the Energizer bunny. Conventional wisdom says that can't live with well over300hp& torque ft /lbs......that said, 1st gear is no longer in the trans.
BTW, those are 12 inch slicks being deposited on the asphalt. Eat your hearts out 911s.:D Humm, the vid starts in the middle. Slide the ball to the begining ORPCA Autocross @ Packwood - YouTube |
