Paging Rick Lee in 3...2...1....
Rush finally going into the Canadian Hall of Fame
Rock Hall 2013: Rush Has Heart, Donna Summer, Public Enemy as Classmates | Billboard :D |
I'm actually disappointed. Doesn't make the RRHOF any less of a sad joke. I certainly never needed the Rolling Stone Magazine crowd's approval to know Rush are a great band. And when I went to the RRHOF while in Cleveland on a business trip years ago, I thought it was pretty lame anyway. I would never have gone, had the company not paid our admission.

I heart Rush! ;)
<iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9CE_T-oaXlU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Limelight (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Limelight" is a song by the Canadian progressive rock band Rush. It first appeared on the 1981 album Moving Pictures. The song's lyrics were written by Neil Peart with music written by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. "Limelight" expresses Peart's discomfort with Rush's success and the resulting attention from the public. The song paraphrases the opening lines of the "All the world's a stage" speech from William Shakespeare's play As You Like It; the band had previously used the title for its 1976 live album. The single charted #4 on the U.S mainstream and #55 on the U.S Hot 100, and is one of Rush's most popular singles. "Limelight" was one of five Rush songs inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on March 28, 2010.[1] Motivation Geddy Lee describes the motivation for "Limelight" in a 1988 interview: “ Limelight was probably more of Neil's song than a lot of the songs on that album in the sense that his feelings about being in the limelight and his difficulty with coming to grips with fame and autograph seekers and a sudden lack of privacy and sudden demands on his time ... he was having a very difficult time dealing with. I mean we all were, but I think he was having the most difficulty of the three of us adjusting; in the sense that I think he's more sensitive to more things than Alex and I are, it's difficult for him to deal with those interruptions on his personal space and his desire to be alone. Being very much a person who needs that solitude, to have someone coming up to you constantly and asking for your autograph is a major interruption in your own little world. I guess in the one sense that we're a little bit like misfits in the fact that we've chosen this profession that has all this extreme hype and this sort of self-hyping world that we've chosen to live in, and we don't feel comfortable really in that kind of role.[2] ROCK ON GUYS!!!! |

My number 1 idol to this day |
I've had a few encounters with Neil, but never a conversation or had a camera with me. Two yrs. ago he pulled up on his bike at an intersection Mrs. Lee and I were waiting to cross. He was 10' from us and escorted by to LV cops on their Harleys. His tour bus was broken and he had to ride out right after the show. Thousands of concert goers on the streets and no one recognized him at all.
This was at Red Rocks. Gogar hooked me up. The dealer was delivering the bikes as we arrived. This is his. http://fototime.com/F7155FC58FD3237/standard.jpg |

Those vintage Marshall Plexis give me wood.

Photo sucks, but there were so many people around, it was hard to get the whole kit. At NAMM two yrs. ago Neil's latest kit was on display. You can't see 1/10 of the amazing detail on this thing at a concert. I got to crawl all over it.

I've watched the "Beyond the Lighted Stage" movie multiple times. Brilliant film and I became a much bigger Rush fan after watching it. As a kid there was a lot of "us or them" wrt the bands you liked. I was a Hendrix/Clapton/Beck guy, wasn't a Page or Rush guy. I got a little broader minded in my old age. A little...

Congrats on Rush getting in. Not my cup of tea but awesome musicians.
Now... Public Enemy, Moody Blues, Public Enemy, Moody Blues? RRHoF can tuck it, they'll not get a penny from my arse. |
