Thieves...but I have pics...need photo pros help

Long story short, somehow thieves used my credit card and ran up nearly $800 in charges. Not sure how they did it since it was at home in my wallet with me at the time.

I filed a police report and they sent me back some pictures of the thieves. Problem is , is that they are so small and crummy. Hoping someone here can clear them up better than me. These are the originals. I have gotten them somewhat better and saved, but they are still not very good. It actually looks like a dog in the first picture to me......Thanks, Mitch....

I hate thieves.

Kind of tough to get detail out of an image when it was never captured to begin with.

Besides, if it's fraud you are covered so why bother.

Have you used your card in a restaurant lately?

Anywhere where it was out of your site for more than 30 seconds?

Buy any gas recently? Did you check the card scanner on the pump for anything abnormal?

I think that's my sister-in-law. ;)

There won't be much that you can do to enhance them. I deal with surveillance video grabs all the time and the recorded quality just sucks. I have sent a few to NASA for enhancement but that was for major cases.

Call the CC company ASAP, you do not have to pay.

Yes, it was a credit card. I am covered and the card was shut down.

I was just hoping for a bit better imaging. I know people and the area where they went "shopping" very well.

I requested more images from the entry/exit. They should be closer to the perps.

Why bother? Because they are f''ing thieves.

Post to Facebook and twitter as a missing person. Someone will know them.

There is not much you can do to these images. Small resolution to begin with. If you want, I'll try to sharpen and de-noise them for you. Shoot me a PM if you want.

It's a good chance she is still in the area.
You could distribute to grocery/department store security with contact info...

The police could look through DMV or welfare records, if they really wanted to.

We had almost $1200 stolen on our CC a few years ago. They ordered electronics online then once shipped, had UPS change the ship to address. The bank had the address and name of the scumbag that stole the number, who got away with a small portion and said they rarely pursue. Sent new cards and they ate the charges and moved on.

All considered part of the cost of doing biz these days. The sad part is that it's really the honest folks who end up paying.

I think that's SOP for card companies and banks...but it shouldn't be. It just encourages more of the same criminal action cuz they know no one will pursue them.

Someone got my Visa number in SF somehow. They charged $3500 worth of pre paid credit cards all in the same day. I didn't have to pay it, of course, but they got away with it.:mad:

Not enough data there to work with. Even if you have their names and home address, its unlikely they would be prosecuted. Sad, I know.
