Finished the Horse Head yesterday

This is about as close as I have been to a horse, I did ride one once in Costa Rica on a bar tour, that's about it. So, it isn't supposed to be realistic. Just close from pictures, stylized. I signed it in the ear, like a tatoo. Also on the right side mane I put my initials, hard to see, not in your face. Pink Alabaster, probably 40 lbs now.
I am going to do a bigger one but I want to do a fish or an Easter Island head first.

Awesome, you've come a long way since you first started tinkering with this artsy fartsy stuff.
I can't wait until the pelican you carved for me is worth enough to retire on.

BTW I hate to rain on your parade but it looks like that horse has a whole bunch of cracks in it. Did you drop it or something and hafta glue it all back together?

Very nice!

What tools are you using to do that work?

Very nice. I should buy something from you and wait until you to die for the value to go up, that's how it works, right?

Yeah Sammy, $40 worth of white Wilhold glue, lots of rubber bands.

and thank you everyone for the compliments, that's my third stone carving and I want to do something better, bigger.

The first piece, the Gecko was all hand chiseled, hand filed, hand sanded, the second, the Marble Angel was a lot of power grinders, hand files and hand sanding, this Alabaster, because of all the faults, was all power grinders and hand files, hand sanding. Hammer and chisel would have left me with a lot of little pieces. Final sanded all of them with 2000 wet and dry, buffed and polished the Gecko and the horse head with some clear coat stuff called Akemi, nothing at all on the Marble Angel, just the 2000 wet and dry.

Hugh, Yes, you should buy it now while it's cheaper. send me a blank check, I won't screw you, honest.
Fit it into a movie.

Ya know what they make white glue out of right?
Isn't irony ironic?

That bitterness can easily be overcome, Sammy.

Embrace your homoerotic love for horses rather than deflecting your own feelings of negative self-worth onto this talented artist.

because of the shape of the stone I had to tip the head down quite a bit, a woman in the class with me that owns horses said it was ok, it's called "collecting" when they do that.

Wow, really nice man. I keep meaning to get back into doing some kind of art, but, well, you know. Never was much good with sculpture or carving though. Impressive.
