In the blizzard

Took off for Iowa on Tuesday, finally made it in late last night. In the midst of a nice snow storm with high winds and frozen roads.

Haven't been in the office this week and won't be back for a few. Limited Internet.

Hope you all have a safe and quit holiday. Be well :)

I think all that crap is headed for NW Ohio tonight......50 mph winds and steady rain turning cold and into ice/snow........but hey, it beats the apocolypse !

Whatever you do don't drag that white stuff south with you. Leave it up north where it belongs.

About 1" of snow here. It was a nice change from our recent dry winters, and I got to play in the snow with my new Audi.

Has anyone else noticed how the Weather Channel is now naming winter storms? This is winter storm Drago, and their website is full of references to "Drago's Wrath". WTF, really? I know it must be hard to get ratings when all you talk about is weather, but what they are doing is borderline irresponsible.

So what would you guess are the chances of getting a flight out of Kansas City today?

It's a fast moving storm, I would guess pretty good. From the looks of the radar it's basically past KC already.

I noticed that 'storm naming' thing as well, prolly had a consultant come in and school them on humanization marketing techniques. The more folks feel contacted in a personal way the more engage they become in the topic. Naming is a start, watch for sponsorships in the future!

Winter storm Drago, sponsored by Walmart!

ckelly78z 12-20-2012 06:09 AM

Winter storm Drago brought to you by Bridgestone Blizzak !

Rained a ton here in Chicago this morning. Would have been a nice snow storm if it wasn't so warm.

I have reserved the name Black Beotch for my Boxster. On a more serious note, if there is a severe snow storm coming, I believe it is better to park your car. Or else you could be going to your own funeral. Easy for me to say because I am retired. Stay safe.

Minimum 10+ inches expected, probably 18 on top of freezing rain here. 40 MPH winds. Starting now and ending 36 hours from now.

I hate Fall.

daepp 12-20-2012 08:50 AM

Took me 2 days to get my Mid home from Annapolis.

Now, my other daughter had her Kansas City, MO flight to cancelled. What is with all this weather - can't you be like (broke) So Cal?

maybe NWS is naming winter storms now?

NWS has a predetermined list of names for hurricanes and go down that list each year; since Gloria Steinem quit being a playboy bunny, they have alternated men's & women's names

Nope. Just The Weather Channel.

All flights booked out of MCI tomorrow. I reserved a set on Amtrak to STL for tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed!

TWS did not list Naming a storm raises ad dollars

Heel n Toe 12-20-2012 09:14 PM

I am not understanding why they're not bringing back good ol' SNOWPOCALYPSE.

Seems like a missed opportunity to me.

pksystems 12-21-2012 02:36 AM

Damn... we've had snow on the ground for 3 months already.

daepp 12-22-2012 02:57 AM

Home from LAX at 4 am. Now, all is good!
