Does Doomsday Have a Timezone

CET here; would hate to miss the end of the world, but if by some chance it doesn't end, I'll still have to be up at 0500. If it's really a Mayan thing though, then it might end at more like at 0100 CST, and I'll be fine, can still get to bed, get up. work out, then catch the end on the morning news. I'm pretty sure it's not on the International Timezone, or we'd all be toast (or at least sub-atomic particles) by now. I'm sure the brain trust has an answer...but then, I'll have to read about it tomorrow.

I am still making plans for tomorrow afternoon.

I'm first.

Happy end of the world day everyone.

And Merry Christmas too for next week.

How long until the zombies start to appear?

This is even better than I thought....I can even squeeze in morning meeting (although, why bother), catch lunch, and still have time to catch the end. You know, my office has an unobstructed view over the local landscape.....maybe I'll order in!

Hear ye, hear ye: The world does not end until Wayne's servers go kaput :)

Umm, I'm happy either way. I'm renovating a bathroom, so I'd quite like to see the finished product.

Now, that there is funny. I am starting to drink the contents of my wine cellar now - just in case.

I don't think of it as doomsday, I think the aliens are just coming back that day to up-date the calender they left the Mayans with, they will be pissed when they see how corrupted the world turned out after they left. Then maybe doomsday.

If December 21st is doomsday................

I am going to laugh my a$$ off over all the work the libs put into getting BO re-elected and knowing that I finally had a year when I did not have to pay extra federal income taxes! Almost makes it worthwhile!

I think i'll have a beer with Supper tonight in a big frosted mug rather than a glass of milk as my celebration of life kicks into high gear !

I told my wife if the world ends, I hope i'm not one of the survivors, let me be one of the first to die.

dan88911 12-20-2012 03:46 PM

Oh yeah, I got to get right with them Mayan gods.
Before the sunsets.

enzoducoing 12-20-2012 04:54 PM

Yes

Mayan eastern time.

Tervuren 12-20-2012 05:21 PM

Mayan's have dates for future events written down past 12-21-12, so I don't think they expected it to end on 12-21-12.

BeyGon 12-20-2012 05:50 PM

I forgot to announce my end of the world sale of wood and stone sculpture, pay pal me now.

genrex 12-20-2012 05:58 PM

When our Sun goes supernova and its surface expands out past the Earth's orbit, that would be the end of any last-minute sales, right?

In the fall of 1991... 21 years ago, I drove from Palm Beach, Florida to the rain forests of Chiapas, Mexico around 40 miles from the border of Guatamala along the Usumacinta river to assist a French cinema photographer filming a documentary on the Lacandon Mayan Indians.
They are the last of the Mayan Indians that still practice their ancient rituals and hunt for food.
They were having a big ceremony for the renewel of their gods. They put the old ones to rest and new ones were born. This happens for them every 21 years.

I lived with them for 3 weeks in really low to the ground grass roofed huts and slept in a jungle hammock with rain fly and mosquioto netting tied between two trees at night to stay off the ground and all the fun stuff crawling around at night.. As we waited for them to begin the main ceremony that had no actual time.. it was up to thier King and when he felt the time was right.

It was an experience.

They have long hair and dress in off white tunics... barefoot all the time.
google them if you want to see them

I wasn't too impressed with them in some ways but most of them seemed pretty cool and very intelligent even though I couldnt talk to them.
I don't think there is much connection with them and the old Mayans but spiritually I don't know and for some reason I just felt like writing this...

I don't know.. I hope tomorrow is just another day.
and..
I sure enjoyed driving my 911 turbo today.

wait...they predicted it to the minute? huh...that's pretty good. I wonder if the media will make as big deal of this when as when one of those fringe church people do it.
