Planned on one getting two!!

My wife and I have a three year old son and wanted another child. Just found out from the doctor it's twins and I am freaked out. Need some words of wisdom and support. Any been through this before?

mikesride 12-25-2012 01:39 PM

Any life worth living is a life worth sharing!!! You have been given a great chance to share yours with even more than you had planned!!! Blessed for sure!!! And Merry Christmas!

Mr_Wizard 12-25-2012 01:54 PM

Twin 3 1/2 year old boys here. So far it's a wild ride but would not have it any other way. Congrats.

Jim Richards 12-25-2012 01:54 PM

Holy cow! That's great news. Congrats!

Hugh R 12-25-2012 01:56 PM

I'm a triplet, born in 1954 when it was real unusual. Congrats!

AFC-911 12-25-2012 01:56 PM

I would guess that you're in for twice the fun and twice the diapers.

Bumper 12-25-2012 02:21 PM

Can I fit three car seats in a sedan? I hate minivans!!!

john70t 12-25-2012 02:28 PM

Cloth diaper liners if money is an issue, and time is not.
Congrats!

Hard-Deck 12-25-2012 02:51 PM

Thanks for all the support! So any thoughts on the sedan for three car seats?

Por_sha911 12-25-2012 03:10 PM

The twins will be just like the first one. You don't know what to do or how it will work out but it always does. You'll find the strength, wisdom and finances will be there when you need them.

plumb4u2 12-25-2012 03:22 PM

My boy girl twins are 5yrs old and they are wonderful...... Mine are invetro so we kind of planned on it happening

As with having any young children they have their moments but all and all it's been a good ride so far

Can't see how you would get three in a sedan.....what about some kind of SUV that has three rows of seats?

Don Plumley 12-25-2012 04:37 PM

Congrats!

weseeeee 12-25-2012 05:03 PM

Congrats Bumper!

pavulon 12-25-2012 05:11 PM

2 adults + 3 car seats + modern car=high probablity of something like a van, 3-row crossover, SUV or a 4 dr, full-size pick-up. Get accustomed to less money and sleep!! Congrats!

Joe Bob 12-26-2012 06:14 AM

With #3 we sprung for a Suburban....

billybek 12-26-2012 06:14 AM

Merry Christmas!
Truly a gift!

FLYGEEZER 12-26-2012 06:32 AM

A minivan is probably inevitable. Here's how I thought of it: we need a dishwasher, we need a fridge, we need a washing machine and dryer, we need a minivan. Think of it more like an appliance than a car - that's what a Porsche is. And get one with a DVD player!

Aggie93 12-26-2012 07:14 AM

Learn zone coverage.

Congratulations

We have twin boys, I was lucky enough to take time off to help my wife. It's fine when they are in baskets, once they start crawling the fun begins.

Sign up for everything from pampers, food companies, etc., it can really make a difference in costs, free diapers is free diapers. There are lots of twins clubs/meetings for expectant parents if you want, as you already have a child it's easier for you, get a breast feeding pillow and comfy chair for your wife.

Start getting used to buying two of everything as it will last until they are big :D

Good luck and enjoy it, it is a true blessing.

We went the station wagon route as mini-vans were a fad yet to happen. My wife's sister & family moved nearby, and their daughter was the same age as our son. The kids played together a lot, so we typically hauled both kids around for a few years until we moved away. Our Volvo wagon was plenty convenient for that. Maybe you can find a good sport wagon, Bumper. :)

How about the Ford Flex....It looks to me like a land rover...not sure of the quality, others on this board will be much smarter than me about this.

Bumper 12-28-2012 03:32 AM

Thanks guys for your support. I really appreciate the advice.

UconnTim97 12-28-2012 03:55 AM

Congratulations. My friend has twins and just had a third child this year. He gets three child seats in the back of his M5. Not sure how he does it, but it must be doable someway. ;)

livi 12-28-2012 05:04 AM

Congratulations!

Twice the luck and double trouble. :D

We have Twin Identical Girls 14 Years old.

The pregnancy was a bit touch and go from a health stand point with the Wife. All worked out well for her and the girls.

Unbelievable experience they are easier to raise in some respects and more difficult in others.

Your in for some fun. Don't let any one scare you with the work load it is very manageable. As they grow they have built in friends to pass the time with. It's great and a very efficient way to have kids.

It's just as easy to change 2 diapers as 1. Make sure you do not do your best work changing diapers, you will not be asked very often to do it.
