Changes
Almost 80 degrees this morning. Now it is 35. And I expect we'll go well below freezing tonight...
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

Was it 80F at noon where you are? I didn't think so...

Don't forget to protect your pipes, put a light out by your fruit trees. I always liked the big, old school Christmas lights for that. Wind it around the trunk. You might lose a few branches in a hard freeze, but you probably keep the tree.
I remember the first time that happened to me when I lived in the Piney Woods. Left Lake Conroe 0730 it was in the 70s and sunny, short sleeves. Wind blows out of the North for a bit and it is right at freezing and a pontoon boat has come loose from the slip when I arrive home ten hours later. Got a rope on it and hooked it up to a half ton Chevy and dragged it out the boat slip. Soaking wet scrubs and howling, freezing cold wind is a very unhappy combination. I always kept a jacket in my car after that, always. It is amazing how fast conditions changed there, saw some very extreme weather in the decade I lived there, hundred year flood happened, twice. Funny thing when I first moved down there. It was shortly after that Northridge quake, early 90s LA area. Everybody asked me about earthquakes, more scared of them than a hurricane or a flood. People that knew how much that sort of weather sucked first hand were really more afraid of earthquakes, lots of people. Maybe the fear of the unknown, they knew the hurricane didn't kill them, so I guess it sort of makes sense, but it always struck me as funny. Earthquake is over in a minute, hurricane lasts a whole week. |
I have 2 exposed pipes and both are heat traced and plugged in last night. The pool went into freeze protection mode a little before 6am. The canvas covers blew off the plants.
I guess the real issue is we dropped 50 degrees in about 8 hours! |
-29 C here. Supposed to warm up tomorrow to -14 C

We in for scary weather, so say the news station sky people,

Sustained 40 mph winds and a blizzard warning for us.......8"-12" of snow expected.

Sunny, pleasant but a bit cold (hi 30s here). I hope it stays that way. They're saying it might turn crappy later today or tonight by I'm trying to stay optimistic (ok, I'm in denial... fine). I'm hoping for rain; I'll be right in the "changeover" band. I don have to shovel or blow my driveway free of storm water. Snow sux.

-5F or -21C here in Edmonton. Supposed to get warmer in a couple of days. I would take this for 5 months of the year over a Phoenix/Texas summer of 90F+. Each one to their own. That is why you have so many snowbirds in Arizona at this time of the year.

-15F here. (yes, that's a minus)
Quit whining :p All the leftovers in the cooler on the deck are solid blocks of ice. |
I was shocked at how cold it was last night... 45*F! I had to change from shorts to pants.
