Second Man Pushed Udner Subway

A copycat push-someone-off-subway-platform killing

CHASING THE AMERICAN DREAM: Subway shove victim identified as Sunando Sen, 46, an immigrant who had lived in the U.S. for the past 20 years - NY Daily News

Here is my prediction - now that New Yorkers are alerted to this, they will start tackling the pushers, and with escape no longer so easy, the copycats will stop.

Should have used a gun so the press could make more anti second amentment speeches.

Ban subways!

cashflyer 12-28-2012 01:01 PM

This is a direct result of high capacity subway platforms.

At most theme parks, you can't easily get to the tracks due to barricades/gate controls. I guess the corporations care more about people's safety than the government does. Imagine that.

i lived in NYC for 6 years. Then and now, I have never once stood near the edge of the platform. I always stand with my back up against a post or the wall. I think it is nothing short of stupidity to stand casually on the platform with your back exposed to city strangers while you wait for a train, considering that this type of thing has been happening consistently for many many years

and i always take my headphones off so I can attempt to hear what is happening around me.

Dammit. It's not about the subways, it's about the access to the subways! Get it right people!

I hope you get over your cold soon John.

Riding the NYC subway last week, it never occurred to me that something like this can happen. Will be more careful next time. Crazy humans.

Actually, it's more so the result of high velocity subway platforms. I've ridden on many through trains and some platforms flashed by at such insane speeds that they actually appeared to the observer on the train to be physically shorter than to the observer on the platform, to whom the train appeared shorter (I know, go figure ), although to be fare (yes, I paid mine), Momma always declares that the trains I am traveling on pass by at such insane speeds that I can't throw her from the train my hat, lest it decapitate anyone in its trajectory.

Outlaw large capacity, high velocity subway trains!
