Ski in/out recommendation with young kids

Looking for recommendations for a ski resort to come with my kids (6 and 8). They have never skied before.

Prefer ski in ski out.

Ideas?????

Tahoe, right at Stateline...Heavenly built a new gondola that drops you off right in the middle of the village and it is walking distance to quite a few hotels, resorts and time shares.

Long flight for you but worth it, I love the Tahoe area

Colorado has some places that should fit what you are looking for (Ironhorse Lodge at Winter Park), etc. So does Park City/Deer Valley, Utah.

If they have snow, Wintergreen, Va was great when my kids were learning. Day care and skiing in one. Terrific instructors, great environment.

Close to Fla. as well. We always stayed slope side.

Some of my friends went to heavenly and said the instructors were good, looks like there is a nice Marriott at the base of the gondola too...

Winterpark is great for kids - Zephyr Mountain Lodge is perfect for families.

Lionshead in Vail. Or the Hyatt at Beaver Creek. Beaver Creek is likely the best kids resort in the state, the best part being the after trails activities at the ice rink and stuff, same with Vail. Or if you want to feel "local" Winter Park and hang with the locals.

Edit: When are you thinking of going? I have a three bedroom condo in Avon that's empty most of the year.

By far the best ski in ski out place I have ever been that has everything from kiddie patrol to black double diamonds..

Most places are half way up the hill, get up eat breakfast, walk outside for less than 100 feet, put on your skiis, and head down to the lift.

Vermont is great for ice skating. On skis. It seriously sucks a lot of the time.

The most consistent good snow is in Utah and Colorado.

For a big trip I would head west even though I can be in VT in 3hrs.

However for a couple of kids from FL this is an interesting option:

Then there's always this for the adults:

This is where we always went as a family when I was a kid and we usually stayed in a condo that was SI/SO on the mountain. You never have to get in the car for anything there if you don't want to.

This was back in the '70s. Great memories.

If you're coming from Florida, just skip the east coast experience of hard pack (ice) skiing and go to Colorado or Utah. There really is no comparison. Our choice was always Wolf Creek Pass, CO because of the snow, but with kids there are many other smaller choices.

When I was five we lived in Glenwood Springs Colorado where I learned to ski at Sunlight Pass. Vail is just down the road.

My advice is start them young when falling down and getting up is not such a big deal.
