WTF...Shameless (Shameful) on Showtime
 

So I was catching up on some shows I had never seen while recovering from a bad bout of bronchitis over the 5 day New Year weekend I had.


My wife and I started Nurse Jackie and we really like it, but then the mistake.......Shameless.

Wow, I could not believe how absolutely shockingly crass this show is.

After 10 minutes I shut it down. I'm by no means a prude, far from it, but this show is swill.

Anyone watch this show and like it? Am I missing something? Maybe my 57 yo brain just doesn't compute.

Personally, I think it is pretty shameful that this is thought to be good TV.

I'll admit it, I like the show.

William H. Macy - Drug & alcohol addicted father, can't take care of himself, let alone his misfit family. Wife left him for another woman.

Emmy Rossum - Oldest daughter takes care of the house and family.

and what a family it is, the poster family for dysfunctional families. I think it is very entertaining for the most part, raunchy at times but it definitely has it's moments.

Last season Louise Fletcher (AKA Nurse Ratchet) was absolutely great as the grandmother of the Gallagher clan.... and if you don't know who Nurse Ratchet is, you definitely need to do a little research.

It is. My wife is from England and nearly everything she watches is from back home. She has watched the whole English series and gave it a "meh". I think it started out decent and trailed off as it went on.

I think its a great show

Some people like it, it's another British import like The Office and so many others.. Dark comedy w/ boobs, it's the new "Three's Company".

I know a lot of people who like Justified, worked on it, never caught it. I'm more of a Top Gear, First 48, Deadliest Catch, Alaskan State Troopers, guy myself. And if it is "episodic" I either record on DVR or I catch it on Netflix.

I don't watch a whole heckuva lot of "scripted TV" (who are we kidding, it's all scripted) because I tend to concentrate on watching for goofs and continuity screw-ups. Just the way I am.

I love it. Excited for the new season to start in a couple of weeks. No better title for a show ever.

Justified is also great.

I am with HD - glad I don't have TV, every time I read something like this, or spend a night at a hotel and make the mistake of turning on the *****box. And I am fairly young, compared to the OP. ;)

One thing that bothers me on the internet is that many people who wrote good columns in news magazines available online, now switch to videos. Amazing how not funny and annoying people are to watch that are excellent writers.
