TheSamba.com

I just wonder how many Pelicans know about this VW site? A friend showed it to me. Has a great Porsche parts and Porsche cars for sale area. I think it is a terrific place to look for used parts. My friend uses it because he loves VW Westies.

Samba's reputation precedes it. If you like VW -- real VW -- you gotta like the Samba.

Yep, great site. It has been a great help to me since I bought my 1970 Bus.

Find me there as HarryFD (HarryD was already taken)

procan 01-06-2013 06:46 PM

I bought my 911 on there.

I frequent the samba pretty often. I just wish they would accept the front engined Porsches and VW's and give them their own sections. Maybe nobody would even use it, but it would still be cool.

In a way I think it is cool that the site is run by a dedicated air cooled bunch. In the future my Wife and I hope to buy a Westie. I had a zillion VW cars in my life. I remember going up the Grapevine in California at night in a 59 bug and my Wife telling me "Don't lose your RPM's!" Those were the days!

Actually, there IS a water cooled VW section, not Porsches though...

I wasn't aware they had Porsche content. I knew it as the mecca for all air-cooled VW stuff though.

Excellent 356 section. I joined when the 356 Registry became really goofy in the discussion forums.

Quite a few - I learned about it here, years ago. I frequently browse their classifieds looking at 914s and 912s.

1970 Campmobile -Classic Bus

$4800 o.b.o.

Had a buyer awhile back but backed out at the last minute...

SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!!!

Great buy for those who want a piece of history or are looking for something to live/cruise in.

-Great shape for a 42 year old vehicle. All 4 tires are new. Runs good, but needs brake work. Simple drum brakes, so if you know a thing or two about brakes you are in luck. Has a small amount of rust showing in a number of spots, canvas is good on the pop-top and all the zippers work. Reg and safety have expired.

Sold as is. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE!!!

Not sure why the pics didn't come thru, you can find it on CL kauai if interested.
PS love the samba!

I peruse the for sale section there pretty often (at least twice a month). Great site.

ossiblue 01-07-2013 03:38 PM

Yea, The Samba. As mentioned, a pretty good air cooled Porsche section. Since I left Porsche ownership, I have acquired a 1967 13 window deluxe bus and use the Samba regularly for insights and parts. Some of you who haven't visited the site ought to take a look at the asking prices for split window buses--right up there with 911's of the same vintage with the same caveats about rust and originality. Also, take a look at the "forums" section, split buses, and read the official "Whine" thread. Crazy but fun.

Thier off topic crowd is not nearly as refined as ours. If they were here they'd all be on ban island.
