I enjoyed that..thanks.

That's cool. There's a million movies that take place in the Oval Office. Is there one set that every movie can rent or do they all just rebuild it? Hugh?

Nostril Cheese 01-08-2013 05:12 PM

Surprised Potrero Road isnt on there.

UconnTim97 01-08-2013 05:41 PM

Yep, we use those locations a lot. The Oval Office there are 3 or 4 of them in LA that get used. They are all sets that are rented. We've used Vasquez Rocks and Monument Valley a bunch. That Cafe" I don't think we've shot, that I remember. The 6th Street Bridge in LA we shoot over and under it all the time, and within a block or two of it.

If you live in LA you have to laugh when you see a car chase that goes into an alley in Van Nuys and comes out in Venice, about 30 miles away.

The show NCIS is supposed to be in Virginia but when they go into the woods all you see is Live California Coastal Oaks. They film largely at the Disney Golden Oak Ranch, near where I live.

That restaurant from Pulp Fiction is in a ton of movies too, seems to me it is not far from the Capitol Records building, but it has been a while.

Nope, that was the Hawthorne Grill around the corner from where I grew up. It's an Autozone now.

Only one I recognize offhand is #1, Monument Valley..

I would have thought MacArthur Causeway in Miami would have made the list. Any TV show or movie in or around Miami uses it.

It is funny how so often movies are supposed to be somewhere but all the locals know their state does not look like that. Many westerns were shot in what was supposed to be Oklahoma and they show the huge snow capped mountains of Colorado.

I heard people laugh during the the opening scene in the movie twister where they show the farm house and the chickens are up running around AT NIGHT! I guess they had some special Las Vegas chickens.

I have never seen a movie showing a scene that is supposed to be Oklahoma while at the ocean beach. That is about the only location blunder not shown yet.

Or Potrero Hill in San Francisco. I used to live there. It's the favorite for views of downtown. Used in many movies.

I'm surprised they didn't list the Alabama Hills west of Lone Pine, CA. Dozens of movies were filmed there.

Another location used a lot is the old gas station in Piru.

.

It's like any movie set in DC where they go into the Metro. They are allowed to film outside, it the inside is always Montreal or something else. It's very confusing to those of us that live here.

And the beach/harbor shots are done in San Pedro...
