Yeah, large tarp over the sandbox for the past couple of weeks, but the SOB finds a way in. I am tired of roasting marshmallows with my little kids over burning cat siht in my fire pit. Fire pit is safe for now because I left it on for all night hoping to catch some burning cat fir.

Watch out for Enzo shaking his BBs.

I think the spray works well, but have to re-coat every now and then for effectiveness. I really like catching the offender and spraying him with my scent idea.

Amen to that. I'm staggered by the number of people that just walk their dogs down the street, randomly letting them crap and piss in other people's yards. Absolutely zero recognition of the fact that it is not their property, and it is not their animal's right to use other people's property as a restroom. I'm often tempted to send my kids over to take a big dump on their front door step, that seems only fair.

If it happened after covering it, live trap and either take it to the pound or the lake.

Icemaster 01-10-2013 02:09 PM

Get a bigger, meaner cat.

.177 pellet rifle. 4 pumps stings, 8 pumps breaks skin. Oddly, we dont seem to have a cat problem.

A buddy of mine said he lived next door to a lady that would let her dog out to dump on his yard. He tried to talk to the dos's owner but that got no results. He just went out with a shovel and scooped it up and slung it over his shoulder on top of the dog's owners front porch. After a few weeks the front of her house reeked.

So is the suggestion of Mikester and Gogar out of the question then (talking to your neighbors first?)

RWebb 01-10-2013 05:42 PM

my bet is that will end of as whipped puppy predicted

try it first, tho they may then end up hating you

are you in a city? if so, they may have some 'resolution services'

BTW - cat feces are responsible for a lot of diseases in children; this research has been out there for a while now, but there is little regulation of cats roaming free

another idea not mentioned above is a water hose auto spray device - fun in the summer

If it is your yard, it is your cat. Do with it as you see fit.

Speedy:)

I am right in the middle of the city of Los Angeles.

Had a talk with the man of the house. His reaction was pretty good until his wife charge the door (but was somewhat nice about it)and claimed that their cat may not be the one dumping on our stuff and that cats should roam free as nature intended. right there and then I think I should shoot her fat ass with a paint gun instead of the cat. We have been here for over 15 years and never had cat siht anywhere. There are / were a few wild cats patrolling the hill side. The coyote took care of it and they howl every night. How do I get the coyote to come up to the house and eat this little F'er? They use to come on out deck at times.

All right. I just heard the cat scream. I shine my trusty flash lights outside and decided to open the window to see what the heck happened. I see a skunk on my deck walking away and the stench is horrible even up here in the second floor. I hope that little bastard got it in the face and that he goes inside the house with that smell to stink the house up. The skunks are my friends.

In CA I had a problem w/neighbor & her stray cat that she always fed - I called animal services.
They told me that unlike dogs, cats are not personal property so it would be legal to trap the animal & do with it what I wished.
I did & dropped it off in a community 10 miles away.
Good riddance.
.
I wanted to do the same w/her.

onewhippedpuppy 01-11-2013 04:34 AM

Sounds like the skunk might have done the dirty work for you. Otherwise it's trap or pellet gun time. I hate irresponsible pet owners. My pet has the right to roam free (over at your house), riiiiiight.

Dueller 01-11-2013 04:53 AM

1. Go to Costco or Sam's

2. Buy industrial size container of Cayenne or Red Pepper

3. Sprinkle liberally on surfaces where cat walks

4. Hide to watch as cat cleans it paws

5. LYAO

Fantastic! I wonder if this experience will permanently alter that cat's thinking about visiting your yard.

ckelly78z 01-11-2013 07:00 AM

Better yet, trap the skunk and release it in neigbors house while at work

sammyg2 01-11-2013 10:03 AM

Liberally sprinkle cayenne pepper around places you don't want the cat.
You'll have to re-do it every so often.

It won't hurt the cat but cats don't like the smell of pepper and will usually stay clear.
It's lots cheaper than anything you'd find at pet-smart and will probably work as good or better.

EDIT just noticed Dueller beat me to it. :)
