New Corvette

Looks a bit 'busy' for my taste, but definitely muscular and agressive. Internet photos never really tell the story. You have to see it with your own eyes.

I'll second the busy comment.... Looks busy and plasticky, par for the course... Hopefully it looks better in person...

Good news is that it will drive the price of the c6 down. :D

Older Corvettes look better everytime they make a change.

R K T 01-13-2013 04:34 PM

Not feelin' it....too many lines and creases.....Maybe in person it'll work.

That's because we're a bunch of old farts. Certainly an edgier design than Ferrari but more conservative than Lambo. Supposedly performance is in that league at a far more attractive price. In this age of 'transformer' angles and flow, I like it. Clearly there's a Cadillac influence in terms of archtecture, but executed better.

Once upon a time, we criticized Porsche and others for making cars that look like eggs. This does not.

Looks very busy, but what do I know? My car is 22 years old. :)

ckelly78z 01-13-2013 04:54 PM

I like the rear hatch area, it does remind me of a 575 Maranello though. I don't care for the angular lines or the furnace grates on the hood and rear fenders.

Slider79SC 01-13-2013 05:20 PM

Older is way better....

Looks a bit busy, I agree. But so does the massivey be-spoiled and be-louvered GT-3. And I love those.

Interior will be yards better than my C6, sounds like.

Maybe all those lines increase radar confusion? agree though, if they smoothed it out it would be more visually appealing. More organic. Harsh, rigid lines only appear in nature in rock formations due to aggressive physical manipulation. Smooth lines are organic and natural...love love love it smooth ;)

Maybe I'm alone here but I like it... looks like they put some money into design (good or bad) and you know the performance will be there. Maybe not a giant leap forward for American sports cars but a step forward if you ask me.

2 or so years ago I went to a warehouse where they fed us milk and cookies and showed us some drawings for a un-named sportscar interior.

The negative that I saw in this one is that for long-legged guys I'm pretty sure that our left leg will be in a very tight space between the steering wheel and the door panel.

One of the issues with the C6 has been rear visibility. Have a cop car or a Honda behind you why yes I think! The n shape of the rear glass is way distorted on the C6 and add in the defroster lines and you can't see what car is 200 yards behind you.

I'm kinda liking the car that I'm seeing but really once it's in the flesh will be the final yea/nay.

I think the change to the C5 generation 'Vette grew on me is now my favorite over the initial C5 'Vette. I think the C5 'Vettes I see on the road look better than C4s, but mostly because the C5's are in better condition. C3's are all over the map.

Not having the oval-ish tail lights is going to be awkward, but I guess they are trying to increase "brand identity" of their Chevy products ala NASCAR.

ZAMIRZ 01-13-2013 10:58 PM

^It's not just you, C4 Corvettes are 3rd world ugly, by far the worst of the bunch.

This new one's ok, but I agree it's too plasticky.

KNS 01-14-2013 04:39 AM

Is it just me or have Corvettes gotten smaller over the years (while 911s have gotten bigger)?

Rot 911 01-14-2013 04:58 AM

Will they ever give up on that Monte Carlo interior?
