Engine Performance Criteria
 
sure, there is hp and torque (same thing, right?)

and the second thing people think about is the wt. of that heavy slug that will be sitting somewhere along the axis of the car

but, there is also the size of the engine -- packaging is an issue in every car

so, here is a thread on engine size - to celebrate the new (C7) 'vette (which oddly still has its engine in the front), I'll start with the small block Chevy motor:

The small block chev has to be atop the heap as the most popular of all time...

Far as I'm concerned, the jury is still out on the Ford "ecoboost" engines.
