What do we know about this watch?
New for me. An Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000. This one has 60 m/200 ft note below. I hate research using my iPhone. Any help? I think this one needs to be sent off for a good cleaning. It seems slow.

Early to mid 70's a few different movements were used, all pretty accurate when serviced properly
|
This one is an automatic.
|
They all were. Early ones used a different movement. Day/date used an ETA C 1020.....your date only should be an ETA c 1010. Solid movement. Local watchmaker should be able to get it purring quick and relatively cheap.

You can now introduce yourself as Bond.....Cliff Bond.

The Cosmics are nice because they are thinner than most diving watches. Good solid watch for sure.
|
The service will be around $500-$800. Omega removed the $400 limit on service.
And if it's slow just hope is service and not something else.. It is very expensive to service that movt. and Omega will demand higher price for everything. Beautiful watch (one of my favourites) but way too expensive to keep it ticking.. IMO |
Why in gods name would you send a 40yr old watch to the manufacturer for service?!?!? Thatd be like taking a 912 to the dealer, theyd spend 4 hours figuring out that they can't plug it into a computer, bill you for it and send you home with a still broken car. Go to a local watchmaker......if you don't have one local, there's a very good one here that i'd recommend and he's used to working on stuff by mail

Plus one on finding a good local guy. The guy I have locally services my Tuder and I just had him fix an old pocket watch. It was running fast, then stopping. It took him some time (being christmas) but it runs perfectly now and will not gain or lose time in 24 hours.
It was funny. When he opened up my Tudor(Rolex made), he found the marks showing it was serviced by one of his mentors, about 25 years ago. |
buddy got his seamaster serviced/cleaned by a reputable watchmaker for 125.
|
Nice watch....get it serviced
contact High Grade Watch in Dallas 972-233-2705 regards, Mike |
Mine was stolen in 1994:mad:

Thanks for all the info. It is running great now. Weird. No time lost in the last 24 hours. Maybe it needed a warmup. :)
