The Race that changed everything
|
Very cool vid
|
While factually correct the video skipped over the patent infringement case that threatened to shut down Ford from even producing car one...it took eight to get that straight.
Plus no mention of the Mustang...WTF? |

I found it interesting that Henry used the "no replacement for displacement" theory...ditto the spark plug invention. |
Enjoyed the vid. Thanks.
We have some pre- '10 cars in the family. All are drivers. Have to admit, hitting 40 mph even on asphalt in a high centered, flexi and narrow wheel car is scary enough. Also been in the first production Ford 1904 model 'A' two cylinder but I can't imagine how a beast that big cubed Ford racer must have been like. An outstanding documentary for ANY car enthusiast is Horatio's Drive - America's First Road Trip (search DVD on Amazon or PBS stream). Turned into a Winton vs. Packard race of hell across the country in 1903. |
538 CID on two cylinders, and rolling on 28s.

A vaporizer is a crude form of mechanical fuel injection? Who wrote that script?
|
Cool video; I had never heard that story before.

Some guy got a patent on automobiles, tired to get a fee for every car made. He also granted licenses to manufacture. Ford was denied a license and they tried to put hin out of business.
He sued and he won, took eight years though. |
