War of the Worlds...broadcasted today. Implications??
 

Hello.
I was wondering for awhile now that if a Radio/T.V personality did an -Orson Welles
remake of an Alien Invasion.
-Larry King-
An Invasion that was an absolutely brutal one for these times.

What would the implications be for the informants and what do you think reactions would be?

It's be an interesting experiment. Although, it would have to be a multimedia thing. Broadcast, twitter, web. I think people would sniff it out very quickly.

I like to think that most of the population knows there is no intelligent life on Mars. With the so many people believing in bigfoot, and chemtrails and the like I guess the invasion from Mars would likely be believed by a lot of people.

Any major story would have all the news sources running the story. As soon as someone changes the station or checks another source they would find it is not real.

The original War of the Worlds was a time when the radio was the only source of information.

Yup, you'd have to have EVERY source of media in on it. Facebook, Twitter, internet news providers, TV news, radio, etc. It would be really difficult to make it convincing on a large scale, and I doubt any major networks would participate due to legal liability concerns.

Otherwise, I think people are just as prone to panic as they were when the original aired.

"War of the Worlds" type broadcast...no chance.

Now if Fox and Rush broadcast "The Sky is Falling"....:D

Given the current state of our politics, I welcome the enlightened administration of our alien overlords.

Since half the population believes that zombies are real, I'm sure that some people would be fooled.

If it could be carried through ,say Hollywood and it's relatives in the news media and PEOPLE WERE AFRAID.....VERY AFRAID - and a lot would be- what sort of implications were there be against the media after all this would have turned out to be a joke?

-btw ,not Mars;say the Pleiades.

Well, if someone starts a Facebook rumor, I could see it being spread like wildfire and believed.

Oh yea. Just say it happened last night and has been covered up by a giant conspiracy. The Feds are hiding the facts! The invasion will be here in just a few hours.
