Matt #2 KU versus #11 K State
7:00 tonight. I went to undergrad and Law School at KU. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! SmileWavy
We Kansans may not have an ocean, but we do have some college basketball. A little trivia for you: The Jayhawks' first coach was the inventor of the game, James Naismith, who is, ironically, the only coach in the program's history with a losing record. |
Oh yeah, well just wait until football season! Wait, is it too early to make excuses?:D
I'll be watching! I was born and raised in Manhattan and my wife is a KSU alum. The overall record isn't in favor of KSU, so I may be going to bed early. |
I'm surprised Kansas hasn't joined in with the ACC yet, but I think I know why....they're "askeered" :D

Ain't that the truth Matt...I couldn't even name the ACC schools anymore. Sucks...

KU vs Mizzou was one of the longest running rivalries in the country. Tossed aside so Mizzou could pursue "greener" pastures as an also-ran in the SEC. Very sad.
I love college sports, but the recent conference re-alignment has taken away some of the magic. |

Mom and Dad Jayhawks, aunt and uncle Jayhawks, both brothers Jayhawks, me old Jayhawk. Aunts and Uncles Wildcats, first cousins Hawks, cousins Cats. Friends with the the head football coaches son in the mid 60's at KU. Allen field house was our playground. Ran indoor track in hs at KStates former rat hole basketball facility. Ran indoor track in Allen Fieldhouse in college.
I think it took KState something like 25 years to beat KU at their own new facility. So having said all that it should be a good game. KU almost let Texas slip up on them last week. Rock Chalk. http://fox4kc.com/2013/01/16/kuboobs-becomes-internet-hit/ and this too. |
Well how was it Matt? Worth leaving dinner for?
|
The win over Kansas State extended the Kansas winning streak to 16 games.

When your team only hits on 35% of their shots, you are not going to beat #2. KU did a good job shutting down Mcgruder, KSU's leading scorer. They just didn't have enough offense. I thought the KSU defense played really well, but you have to score and defend to win basketball games. At least it was only 59-55. |
What a game that was to watch! Of course I wanted KU to win, but I really enjoy watching a good, physical basketball game. I bet a lot of those guys woke up sore this morning.
|
Ok Kurt, it's round 2! #10 KSU vs #14 KU. The rankings, btw, don't make me even a little bit more confident about our ability to win in Lawrence. There's no harder place in the country to win a basketball game. I'm just hopeful the Jayhawk's three game losing streak has gone to their heads.:)
|
Has or hasn't gone to their heads?
|
|
Matt... If it helps, OState won in Lawrence recently...

Ps: The bbq may be up for debate, but "better" basketball is just a given (ducking for cover)! Quote:

I think that was three games worth of frustration taken out on KSU. I didn't even watch the last 10 minutes. Typical Kansas State, choke when they start getting some recognition.

Some good roundball being played!
From last night Gator/Kentucky game...this Wilbekin kid is a blast to watch. Casey Prather is not too shabby either. Kentucky is not as good this year as in previous years but our win last night was important in the conference standings. Good luck to the Jayhawks and Wildcats going forward.....hope we see you at least in the Final Four! <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5teRzK_qMxU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
