Mahle racing piston/ cyl set ?

Trying to sell some stuff a friend had. He had a stroke and will never drive again...sad story that many of you know

Anyway, he has a set...NIB... of Mahle 100mm racing pistons and cyl for an 84-86 Carrera that he never even took out of the box. I have them listed on eBay but would like to know what HP you'd get with them installed in a good tight engine. That would help with the eBay ad.

Mark- I don't know if this helps and of course there's many factors. Mid-80's Ruf Mahle kit with 98mm / 10.3:1 compression ratio, Ruf's ECU and exhaust they claimed 260 hp DIN.

(If its OK with the rules, perhaps you can post it in the parts for sale + ebay link??)

Well it all depends on what kind of crank, exchaust, heads , inlet and fuel system is going to be used
And what compression the engine will have after install..
Cylinders & pistons are but one part of the equation

It's going to be a really big ball park to throw figures around

With a stock crank on a 3.2... What would the displacement be with 100mm pistons?

74.4mm stroke and a 95mm bore is 3164 cc
74.4mm stroke and a 100 mm bore will be 3506 cc

a great deal will depend on what compression those pistons have and what kind of heads (ported, twin plugged, intake size and fuel system)

Thanks for the help guys. I personally dunno all this tech stuff as you can tell. Just tryin' to help Doug's family. His 911 sold as did his Hummer. House will go to a short sale. Some furniture also sold. Only these P&C's are left. I'll post all this on Parts for Sale and incl the ebay ad. Somehow I think it'll be a tough sell.

100 mm on a 3.2 = 3.5 L

I'd start by finding out what the set lists for new from a retailer that moves the most of them, then take pictures of everything and post them to a photobucket etc.. Nobody will want to cough up that kind of money only to find you scratched a cylinder or dented something from inattentive packing. My guess is you're North of $3k on these if they are really NIB w/rings and wrist pins.

Thanks for those suggestions BG. I have looked them up and they retail now for about $5700. All the pics I have are on the ebay listing. Wrist pins are all there. I offer a three day return. I do agree it's not likely to find someone who wants this exact set but the box was unopened when we removed it from his garage. I just had to unpack to take pics and return them to the original packing. I started the bidding at $3K..

Sounds like you're on the right track, good luck on the sale, and good on you for helping the guy out.

Not on the box that I can easily read...faded over the years, but on the cyl's so I can go from there. It's shown in the ebay ad I think... I'll look at my copy and enlarge so I can read and then edit this post to give it... Stand by

OK...here's a screen shot. Not all that easy to read. I don't have them in my possession at this time but they are at a friend's home...I can go up and see if I can read it more clearly if need by... What do you think ? I'm just guessing that this is the part number..

The cylinders don't matter, 100 mm is 100 mm

it's the pistons that make the added value.

Well, I guess I understand that but I would have thought that these always came as a set with part number designation. I'll try to find them online at some supplier and go from there.

I have a call into the Porsche guy at Mahle in Tenn. Hopefully he can answer the question if I give him some numbers. I was referred to them by a tech at a Mahle distributor in Nv.

Another number I found on the box...just a yellow sticky note: 911 103 100 23

Maybe this will mean something to one of you guys Thanks again to all of you for trying to help out... Pelican forums are fantastic...

Best info I found so far from EBS Racing is this:

EBS Racing - Porsche Parts Exclusively

While these are 98mm it's 9.8:1 Compression.

EBS says they were discontinued for some reason but would be 10.3:1 Given that and that he was going to use stock heads, what HP do you think you'd end up with.. ?

Guy from Mahle just said 10.5:1...
