Anyone familiar with Conyers, Georgia?

Any insider/local info on Conyers would be appreciated!

Is it a safe place? Nice place to live? On the upswing or downswing? Decent economy? Mostly commuters to ATL?

I know the first few episodes of Dukes of Hazzard were filmed there, so it can't be all that bad.

Economy has not done this area well, but there are some decent places around Conyers to live. The nicer areas of the ATL are north of the city in my opinion, but I have not lived there so cannot say that with 100% confidence.

Live inside the perimeter unless you want the most miserable commute of your lifetime.

Tons of fantastic older neighborhoods--alot of character, and everything you need is no more than 10-15 minutes in any direction including the airport, Turner Field, Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead.

Yes, there's crime. I haven't lived in any major city yet which did not have any.

Look up Inman Park, The Old Fourth Ward, Grant Park Ormewood Park, Decatur, etc.

Good luck!

Depends where you work. I worked in Norcross and lived in Peachtree Corners. Piece of cake.

You couldn't pay me to live inside the Perimeter. People are just, well, 'different' in there.. lol..

OTP (outside the perimeter) people don't generally like ITP (inside the perimeter) people and vice versa..

But to the original question, where will you be working?

This is for an investment in small rental properties.

Located near the Old Town district.

Property Taxes..........

in the metro counties are pretty steep. These include Fulton and DeKalb counties. Other counties in the area such as Cobb and Paulding and maybe Henry counties would be considerably less. Generally speaking, properties outside of I285 fall in the more reasonable category. If you have to commute into downtown, it can and will be pretty bad at times. Either leave early or later and try to avoid the early and late rush hours. There are some other towns in the general area of Conyers that you might want to consider also, including Lawrenceville and Duluth and maybe Stone Mountain. One good thing about this area is that you won't be too far from the Road Atlanta race track! It is a nice 2.5 mile multi turn race track with a nice elevation change right at the end of the lap. For the moment at least, you will be north of the "gnat line" so you won't have to put up with those pesky little critters! There are several new or almost new schools in this area, both elementary and high schools. If you have kids to consider you will have some good education areas to look into.

True enough!

I lived out there for awhile, too.
