Mens Health... Yes or No

The purpose of this message is to share with you an idea I have which I believe will be of interest to the Pelican community, primarily the male users.

Would you be kind enough to share your opinion on the creation of a new heading titled Off Topic - Men’s Health or something like this?

This area which would be dedicated to providing the male users of the site an opportunity to learn more about health issues specific to men. This area could be used to inform and educate those wishing to learn more or support those experiencing health related challenges.

I don’t want to alienate any of the female audience, however, the vast majority of users are male and I don’t believe the female members would be offended by this.

Being a male in my mid-fifties and having experienced certain health challenges I can tell you that having a community of fellows to share concerns with and receiving support is very comforting during times of stress and uncertainty, perhaps you yourself can identify with this?

Anyway just a thought I felt I could share with you. If you feel this is something you as a community would use and benefit from please let me know?

Look forward to your response,
Regards,
Mike

I guess it really comes down to what is covered, and how it is handled.

vash 02-01-2013 08:02 AM

no. probably not.

porsche4life 02-01-2013 08:04 AM

Nah..... Most of that stuff gets covered in regular OT, why do we need another whole forum tying up server space?

We have traveling exhibits at the museum where I work (Just had Cleopatra, have had Titanic, Bodyworlds, Starwars, etc.).

We had one named "Womens health", we joked "how come there isn't a men's health exhibit?".

"No one would show up" was the straight faced answer.

But seriously, I am interested in my health... but go to other places on the Internet for that info. This is predominately a automobile/gear head website.

So sorry but no, I vote no...

I think we cover men's health adequately here on PPOT.

I have Hoag Hospital for any information I need, so, NO. But I did ask Tobra for foot info once.

onewhippedpuppy 02-01-2013 09:32 AM

Nope. I'm at one with my vices.

What he said.

Search on "vasectomy," "Rogaine," etc. It's all been covered.

Whatever you do, never Google health symptoms looking for answers. Go to your doctor. In a similar way, reading about health on a car forum may contain the same hazards as Googling your ailment!

Thats what WebMD and Moses is for!

Scooter 02-01-2013 02:06 PM

Just start a thread about men's health and update it regularly. No new forum needed.

I have already learned how to shave my balls without nicking them in OT, why would we need a forum for it?

:)

Hell yes! Everyone knows the interwebs is the best place to get sound medical advice.

Schrup 02-01-2013 02:14 PM

Is this a plot to drive the health nazis out of OT? Better chance for folks to read something healthy if it's with everything else.

red-beard 02-01-2013 02:14 PM

Will scrotum snipping be covered in that forum?

Moses 02-01-2013 03:32 PM

Just call it "You and your Junk".

Men care little about anything else.
