Dumpster Divin With TABS

Lately to get out of da house I have gone Dumpster Divin at the local Thrift Stores...

In the past week I have come up with

1. A full set (3-PW) of Ben Hogan "Director" Forged Golf Clubs circa 1980 for $11.92. Played very little, mostly just bag wear.

2. Four Golf wedges.. by Spaulding "Tour" 56* $2.25, Ben Hogan IPT Sand W $2.25, Golfmaster 50* $1.99 and American Open 64* $2.20.

3. A Murano Glass Mid Century 5 " diameter Candy Dish..perfect condition .$5.00

4 Fissler 9" German Pressure Cooker..$12.99..like these are $250.00 new, (needs a gasket for $14.50)

5. 15 Cook Books for about $28.00 Most of them have good resale value on Amazon

6. A Disney licensed Mickey Mouse Coffee Mug..perfect for $1.50

7. A well made hand crocheted 3 X 6 Afghan blanket for $9.00 ...keeps me nice and toasty while watching TV on the sofa at night

8. A very high Thread Count Cotton Bed Sheet for $5.99...

My GF has been hitting a salvation army thrift shop during her lunch break. Haha, she has been coming home with designer clothes and OK jewelry for about 8 bucks a pop.

She said some of the girls at work are horrified that she's going to a "poor peoples" shop and she thinks it's quite funny (as she's go a net worth of a couple of M).

Some, or most, of the clothes haven't been worn. The upper middles classes seem to do a shop till you drop each Saturday, and don't actually want the stuff so dump it at the thrift shop on Monday.

pressure cookers are measured in volume. how many qts is a 9"? that is a great score!!

Don't knock the thrift places. My wife regularly shops the goodwill store on her way home from work. She has picked up some very nice items of men's and women's clothing, some solid wood furniture pieces in great condition, and 3 Lladro figurines in perfect condition. And all for cheap $$.

I will slip into the Goodwill store and look for sweatshirts and a few other items. I don't like paying the $30-$50 for a nice branded sweatshirt, but can find them for $3-$5 in there and i'm just going to get them dirty and torn up cutting wood, and working on cars anyway.

One man's trash is another man's treasure! My son picks good will shops weekly, and puts his "Scores" on Ebay. Picked up a pair of B&L sunglasses a while ago for $5 and sold them for $200. Just one of many scores he has made. Knowledge is power!

You should stick to gun auctions. I think you do better there. Plus, it is a little more exciting to read about than scoring a pair of used socks. :)

I go to places like that from time to time. Usually some good stuff...

Was in one last week and got some good tools for 20% the usual cost...

There's a reason them ben hogan blades aint been played much. they got a sweet spot the size of a BB. I learned to golf on a set of them and My arms still go numb when I think about it.

Iffn ya hit em just right the ball will go fer-ever, but that isn't how I tend to do it.
