Cowboy boots

Yeah, yeah I know "real cowboys wear baseball caps and tennis shoes" however I am in no way close to being a cowboy...

The cowboy hat thread got me thinking...

Being city boy I have no use for a cowboy hat, however cowboy boots are quite fashionable in many circles.

Any recommendations?

I always liked Justin and Nocona. Mahan's and Tony Llama are too narrow for me.

The most comfortable boots I ever owned are Ariat's. No break in time. Feel like slippers. I suspect every foot wants a different boot.

Also, much easier to get a good fit in ropers. Not such a narrow toe box.

If you want to do it right, get some that are made for YOUR FEET! Hand-made cowboy boots are not that much more expensive. Have worn them for 25 years and they are hand-made by a small outfit in El Paso. Any style you want and they fit your feet and not a generic size.

If you are interested in their contact info pls let me know. I am still wearing the first pair that they made for me over 25 years ago, they are top notch quality.

You probably would enjoy a pair of "roper" style boots for casual wear. Not quite as high of a heal. More comfortable to walk in. Sorta like a cross between a cowboy boot and a wellington. I have a pair in simple distressed brown leather that I wear for casual situations (jeans and khaki).

A lot of lawyers around here wear them in polished black with business attire/suits but I'm not there yet. Some even wear ornate dressy cowboy buits with suits. May be just me but ostrich skin with pinstriped suits don't work for me.

I've had a pair like this for 15 years...Ariat's, scuffed and broken in I never polish them:

You can get them with designs. Some Tony LLama's:

See what I mean about the heel? Much more comfortable to me for walking around.

I have a pair of black ostrich in roper style and love them. Look great with blue jeans and very comfortable. Thats one thing about having them hand made is that they will make whatever toe or heel you like, and same with the uppers. As high or low as you wish, and what ever stitching you like. Also they put my initials on mine which is nice.

My Ariat's are the same, but without the stitching at the top. So comfortable.

I've got a pair of those... Said I'd never wear cowboy boots... Then I started dating a girl with horses....

I like em though... Don't like em as much as my Montrail hiking boots though.

Justin, Nocona and Dan Post.....I have 8 pairs. I have a set of elephant hide boots for 20 years....just keep resoling them. Do them in rubber. They last 10 times longer than leather.

Guys, please give one pair of handmade boots a try!!

They are so much better feeling and cost $50-100 more, so its not a lot of money and they are made the way YOU want them.

Friend of mine does a lot of the fancy stuff for Leddy. Excellent quality and you will be very happy with the boots. He charges a bit much for me but someday...

EDIT... went to the Leddy website and poked around. Jeez are they proud of their products. One belt buckle alone, no belt, was $8900... then went to the hat section and the first two I found were $1500, so I need to win the lotto before shopping there.

Found something on my friend, Jim Resley in El Paso.

Take a look at his work at the bottom of this page. Many of the special hand made boots that Leddy sells have work from Jim on them.

I've got a pair of brown Ostrich ropers from Justin. They are super comfortable.

I'm with Joe, my next pair is going to be cutsom made for my feet. I spend $500+ on hockey skates, I don't have a problem spending the $$ to get quality.
