Free places to sell a car?
In an effort to promote marital peace in my lifetime I MUST sell off my beloved 944.
It is posted here on Pelican. 1984 944 runs good but leaky water pump $1500 firm in So. Cal. And on Craigslist... any other free places to post a car for sale ad? Thanks,

The main problem is that you're too honest.
People see that it's been sitting since 2007, and they don't know you so they think "if all it needs is a water pump and a battery, then why has it been sitting for 5 years?" and naturally they don't inquire further. If you want marital happiness in your lifetime, the solution is to get the car running so you can say it's a driver, or knock $500 off the price. _ |

+1, and since EVERYONE knows that a 944 is "well setup"...you are immediately imagined as being Nigerian or working on an oil rig

It may help to include the mileage in your ad. I just put mine on Craigslist yesterday.
Good luck.

Good news on getting the registration updated. That'd be a big draw-back for most buyers.
That said, what's scary about the car is that all sat for 6 years. There will be a lot more wrong with it than just the waterpump / battery. The gas for example will be vinegar. I'd just drop the price to $900k and get it over with. Or get the FIRM out of the ad. $600 is a good investment in your marriage. ![]() G |

I'm asking $1500 only because everyone wnat me to drop the price no matter what you put in the ad.
The real price is $1000. So if you are serious email or PM or send out smoke signals.... just come get the damn car PLEASE! Milage is 150K, I will add that to the ad. Tires are practical new

If the real price is $1000, put $1200 OBO and just not allow yourself to take less than what you're comfortable with. I am honest to a fault as well, but eliminate describing in detail all that is wrong with the car, and don't mention it's been sitting for 6 years, anyone who calls about it can be told the story, and will appreciate your candor. Tires are at the bitter end of thier life when 6 years old.....not almost new. I had 7 year old Pirrelis on my garage kept 83 944 when I bought it and was afraid to take it very fast because of the checking and cracking throughout the sidewalls and tread. Also after 6 years, it needs a timing belt. I'm not trying to bust your balls here, but sometimes upfront honesty will scare most buyers away, kinda like telling your wife that those pants actually do make her butt look big.....not wise. |

86Meesta2 is coming by tonight with the money...
Have an email from another fellow who wants to buy tonight... but Meeta has first chance. As for critiquing the ad... well... everyone is entitled to their opinion.

LOL!
Cracks me up that you sell it on PPOT in a few hours. Great place! I had thoughts about picking it up - would be a fun project. If I had time that was. I really need a project car like a hole in my head. Congrats - you will be a little sad - but once you don't have to look at it any more every day and have the garage space back, you'll be happy! G |
