How do I get a big travel trailer with a salvage title back from out of state?

My buddies who did this, just hooked up , and drove like hell. All the way from Indiana back to Pa, with no plates. They got away with it, and said that they were passed by several troopers along the way, and not one even took a look at them.
I am 100 % sure that Pennsylvania, has no provisions for this. No transit plates or anything like that. I used to have RT plates for my biz that I could have used, but I turned them back in some years ago, as the insurance was a killer, and I really did not need them once I quit doing dealer work.
I will obviously not be able to plate it, because I will first, have to get it back here, and go through the application for a re-constructed title.
10 Years ago, I would have just hitched up at sunset, taken the bulb out of the license plate lamp, and hauled butt for home. I'm not as brave now a days, and prefer to fly within the confines of the law.
Any ideas how to do this? I am not sure which state either, if that makes a difference. Possibly Virginia, New york, Ohio, or Joisey.

Do you have a valid trailer plate? If so, take it and put it on the trailer. Then drive 55 all the way home. Computer scanners only tell if the plate is valid, not if it's on the right trailer.

Pa. Does have transit tags. AAA can issue one or tag and notary service company.

In November, I ran all the way to Niagra Falls from NW Ohio to pick up an 85.5 Porsche 944 on my 2 wheeled car dolly behind my truck. I have had this dolly for 10 years and never had a plate on it, and had it all over 3-4 states with no issue so far......knock on wood !

Garage
Tape a piece of paper with "In Transit" on it. I've never had a problem in the past, especially with a camper.

Here in Va we have temp transportation permits that you can print print out on line, only good for three days and only to get your stuff home. If you really really get in a bind Fred call me. I might be able to go get the camper and have it transported to my house *cough-cough*

Sounds like a job for Sniper .

Me, I'd just slap some tags (or a temp sign) and takes me chances...

ps: In NC, putting "your" tags on a vehicle you just purchased is perfectly legit...I drove my 911 back from Jersey that way (after asking).
