I would chalk this up to the "all you can eat" cheapo sushi places that keep popping up...
People know I like sushi and are always recommending those places to me.
No thank you very much... I will stick with the old Japanese dude who goes down to the fish market every morning and picks out what he will be serving tonight. Yes, it is more expensive... but a steak house is more expensive than sizzler too.
My thoughts exactly! One of these days someone will share a Love Boat(huge boat shaped plate if sushi) with me...

Anybody check out the Oceana website? (Didn’t even bother looking at the CNN link) A review of their mission statement and their list of “Victories” looks like they have an agenda.

Something tells me the food quality or my health is really not their primary interest.

The red snapper thing is nothing new... you can't even get real ones at fishmongers most of the time... anything reddish and a couple pounds is automatically "red snapper" now.

Monterey Bay aquarium has a nice pocket guide for helping to choose seafood that is healthy and sustainable.

No. Both sushi & liver trigger something primeval in me & my gag reflex kicks in on bite #3.

It is your modern palate triggering this reflex. Liver is one of the most nutritionally valuable and rich pieces of an animal. It is the first thing eaten by predators and I guarantee it was the first thing that primitive humans went for in the old days. It is also the first thing I eat when I hunt down a big game animal. But I do take it only this far: I do wait for the camp fire to cook it over. ;)
