Trucks are cash cows for automakers. Realistically, why would they offer mid-size trucks with diesels, if they're just going to cannabalize full size truck sales?

Ford will sell a new van from Europe in 2014 with a 3 litre diesel. Why won't they stick it in the F150?

Every day I consider swapping a turbodiesel into my Trooper. Maybe I should finally get around to doing it...

I am eagerly awaiting. In fact, tonight I called someone I know who runs a HUGE dealer network that will benefit from the Dodge / Jeep diesel. I told him how impressive that I thought small truck diesels were.
If they sell. Everyone will make one. Good for us! Larry |

The Transit van's 3.0L diesel is the same that powers the R.O.W. Ranger and that gets 28 mpg (euro cycle). I'm sure Ford has good reason. I'm friends with Mike Levine from his days at pickuptruck.com, but I'm sure he won't give me much of an answer as to why.
