Vinyl Fencing

What's the difference between vinyl fencing that's available at a place like Home Depot, and what a fencing company will install?

I'm looking to install a couple gates between the side of the house and the property line (which is already fenced). However, looking at the HD website, I see these vinyl gates going for about $110 (material alone). In comparison, a quote from a fence company (coincidentally the same one which installed the existing vinyl fence we share with one neighbor before we moved in) gave us a materials cost of $450 per gate. FWIW, I'm going with vinyl fencing to match what we've already got along one property line along the side of the house.

Clearly, I'm missing something. For the price difference mentioned above (a factor of 4), what is the difference between the stuff I can get at HD/Lowes, and the stuff I'm getting from a fence company (that supposedly makes their own stuff)? Is there a difference in quality of the vinyl? The quality of the hardware? It can't be just mark-up, correct? I've kept labor costs out of the comparison.

Do they spec mm thickness? Only if you know that can you be comparing apples to apples.

Maybe the HD/Lowes melts faster in a fire. You should have seen all of the melted vinyl fencing after the last big fire we had around here.

Usually is the thickness that makes them rigid. I have too much knowledge about vinyl fences, I am not sure it its 4 times thicker and 4 times better built?
