Do you need to be a dealer to get information from a car's vin?
A car came up at my local independent car dealer and I am having a difficult time pinning down what is exactly on the car. Previously, I could get a build sheet from BMW that would tell me how it was ordered. The vin on this Audi is:
WAUBGAFC9CN006931 and I was trying to see if it came equipped with a sports package. Can I look this up and see how it is built or can it only be done through an Audi dealer? Thanks Last edited by 89911; 02-23-2013 at 02:10 PM.. |

Check out BMWVIN.com..
I tried searching for you, but it said the server was overloaded. You can send an e-mail request and they said they would e-mail you back within 12 hours. It was accurate when I searched the options on my car.

Thanks, perhaps I wasn't clear. This for an Audi. I can get BMW vins from a salesmen friend. Don't have any connections with Audi's.

FYI as a FORMER Audi Brand Specialist and now having moved to BMW, the information available form BMW is AMAZING especially when compared to the information available from AUDI.
AUDI has virtually NOTHING like the reports we can pull on the BMWs. No real central service information, no original configuration, Audi retains nothing and therefor makes nothing available. BMW on the other hand keeps thins information for a LONG time and the information is fairly complete. BTW Porsche doesn't keep much available information either.

To confirm the Premium Pkg, just identify a few of the unique features & see if the car has them. Build your own car on the Audi site will tell you 2013 & 2012 won't be too different.

Thanks guys. Steve, is there any other info? I am unfamiliar with the option groupings on that car. I think it doesn't have the innovation package, B and O sound. Sometimes it easier just knowing what it doesn't have. Jay, we spoke over the phone last summer when you were kind enough to clear up some questions about the 335. Coming from Audi , is this where you steer me away

I don't see any Innovation pkg or the B&O stereo. The Sport pkg includes 19" wheels w/summer performance tires, sport suspension, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and shift paddles. I think it also has a cop motor, cop brakes, and cop suspension...
