Drove a 'vette for the 1st time

Overall, this car drove a lot better than I expected for a '67 detroit product, and I have to admit I was impressed with its responsiveness. The car seems to have had a suspension refresh (new bushings were evident), which I am sure helped to make it feel reasonably tight. I really liked the feel of the 4 speed manual transmission...the shifter felt nice and tight, no sloppiness. The V-8 sounds were pretty awesome...I guess I like Corvettes:D

I had a C3 roadster that handled quite well in stock form. Also 4 speed. A lot of fun! The same layout of frame / suspension on that car. The car is better balanced than you would think with the engine quite far back from the front wheels and the driver in the middle ...

I also once drove a C5 Z06 on the street and it was quite impressive. I may buy a more recent vette with stickshift in roadster form again down the line.

my neighbor had a 70's stingray. her name was Barbara. i remember the bell bottoms, the big heels., tight tops. she was super hot. it clearly burned into my tiny prepubescent brain that i was NOT GAY. she was my first crush.

i still remember her kissing me when i gave her a glass of lemonade, "on the house" at my first business. her vette was brown. FOXY!

i love the 70's vettes.

C3 started in 68.

I've only driven a few so way too small a sample size to really mean anything, but generally I wasnt impressed. To me a '62 vette looks just about perfect, but the one I drove was more like a tractor than the sports cars I've always admired. My MGB seems to be light years ahead and it was pretty well used up. The C3 I thought was need has almost impossible too see out of and the clutch was so firm it was basically a binary switch; interesting with a big block.

That said, I'd love to get an early vette with a fresh/upgraded suspension and a LS motor.

If any of you want to drive a C6 with the factory big brake, heavy duty springs, shocks & swaybar upgrade I'll let you drive my 103k mile old 2006 car.

I'm not a big Corvette fan, but then I've only driven one - it was a 1960 roadster with a 327, dual Carter AFBs, Positraction. Holy crap!! You could see the gas gauge move toward empty every time you put your foot in it.

That was in '68. My friend had just bought a 289 Cobra and I was trying to sell me his Vette. I didn't buy it, but boy was I close to the dark side there for a few days.

Bought a 80 Vette in 86 for my 18th birthday...replaced a 914. Wasn't that fast till I put 202 heads, headers, an Isky 262 cam and a Holey 650 DBL pumper...she would roll then! I was pretty competitive in autocross with it; no 914 but pretty good.

From an engineering standpoint, how does this not count as a mid-engine? From what I understand (admittedly little) the basis for a mid-engine is that the engine is in front of the rear axle, not literally in the middle of the car. How is this layout any different?

I grew up in an American car household and have been around Corvettes and various other muscle cars my entire life. German cars are new to me as I've just got my first one 3 years ago. I've always had a thing for german cars though.

My last hobby car was a '75 Vette which I had put a full solid roller 383 stroker motor(500hp/500tq) in it and a vette brake products suspension. While it was cool, nothing compares to my 911. In matter of fact, I like my BMW wagon more.

The C2 Corvette is one of my favorite cars of the era, no question. I'd happily have one.

Having driven a C6 Z06, I can attest to the stupid fast capability that the new ones have as well. Lots of fast for the money.

Before Porsche I had a 63 convertable with 327/340 and 4 spd. Loved that car!
I lusted for one from 63 until I bought it in I think 77. I don't have one dang picture:confused:
I do remember the footwells got so hot I thought my keds would melt
Wife hated it she called it "shake and bake" Must have loved her( still do)
so the car went down the road

I purchased an 81 vette. By that time the EPA, FBI, CIA, DEQ, and whatever other big brother agency out there had its say the vett was far from fast. It's teeth had been filed down so far it was no longer a "hot rod". I drove it for one year and went back to Porsches.
