Health Insurance Up Again
I knew it was coming. My health insurance is going up again this year as I renew, this time by $30.
Still I have to say that it is a bargain over what I was paying when I worked in Corporate America and had so-called half-funded coverage. I paid (just for myself--no spouse) over $400 per month with the company supposedly ponying up the other half then and now am paying only $266 per month for basically the same coverage for both myself and my wife. The only coverage we do not have with the new policy is vision. I also do not have any copays for regular office visits, unlike my corporate insurance. Strange I guess how much more I was paying when I was on the company roster rather than being self-employed... |

Exact same situation here. I thought group policies were suppose to be a better deal? I guess us young, healthy, non smokers are pay for the those that aren't in the group policy.

Only up $30 per month? My wife's company 1/2 insurance just went up 88% from $270 per month to $509. BlueCross/BlueShield rip off. And this is before the "affordable" care act kicks in. Can't wait.

KevinTodd,
What insurance company are you using? This sounds like something I would like to look into. Thanks, |

I work for a company with about 70 employees. We have seen double digit increases last 3 years. my Anthem Blue Shield PPO costs $1947 per month for family of three. My company pays about $700 of that.

After having corporate insurance through United Healthcare for nearly 15 years I went to the private sector and requested quotes from several companies through an insurance quote clearinghouse.
I ultimately went with Humana One. I do not have huge deductibles, the copays are zero and my PPO network has included all my personal preferences for medical and dental (which is an additional $40/mo for my wife and I). I have had zero problems with them over the past couple of years but use it primarily for preventative medicine such as annual check-ups, etc. My wife got a crown recently and this was not covered at all. I have really been very surprised that it has been as inexpensive as it is--the annual increases not a huge issue.......yet!

My insurance rates on an Anthem plan for my wife, daughter, and I just went up $90 per month! The weird thing is my daughter is turning 3 this year so her visits to the doctor have dropped dramatically. I actually thought my rates were going to drop! silly me. . .

Just wait until next year, that is when the rates will really skyrocket.

LOLz at people who thought Government "reform" meant lower healthcare costs.
That was funny. People are so gullible and Govt brainwashed these days, all you can do is laugh. There's nothing left. |

I was told by someone here that congress will fix all this "reform" eventually. It's just how this stuff works normally.

It's really amazing to me how otherwise semi-intelligent people can fall for that kind of stuff, just out of blind allegiance to a political party.
And I mean not just try to defend it, but somehow have the ability to make themselves really believe it. It's weird. |

Cover more people.
Waive "pre-existing conditions", basically cradle to grave coverage. Decrease premiums. Yep, that will work.

Look, we had to pass the bill before we could read it. Sheesh, complainers.
