The Oscars

Seems the Oscars are being panned by everyone as the worst yet., I watched some of it and thought it wasn't that bad. Seth MacFarland was sorta funny, his song "We see your Boobs" with the LA Gay mans choir was pretty good. His skit with Capt Kirk was good.

Shirley Bassey nailed her song "Goldfinger" ......again. A great song and well done
by Bassey (76) and I thought sending Anne Hathaway into the coolers to check on the chilled champagne, just before her award, was a stroke of genius.

Overall not the worst Oscars, although they're mostly not great. IMO (Might be the stuffy audience)

If I still had a TV I would have been watching Castle re runs, not much about the Oscars and Hollywood that I want to see.

I thought most of the Seth MacFarlane's jokes were funny. PC Hollywood panned him but that's expected. The Ted bear Jewish jokes were in poor taste though. Oh, and the Onion's Tweet about the 9-year old actress was a huge fail.

URY914 02-25-2013 12:11 PM

What did the Onion say about the girl? The news reports are dancing around it without telling what was said.

Highlight of the night. I felt bad for Adele to have to sing a Bond song after Bassey's performance. Bassey showed the whole place what performance is supposed to be about. She blew the roof off the place. Everyone else who performed suffered from the bar she set.

called her a little c*nt

Leaving out Andy Griffith in the "In Memoriam" tribute was the ultimate fail. Highlights were Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger and when Seth Macfarlane joked about Ben Affleck in Argo "When he first appeared with all that dark facial hair, my first thought was "My God, one of the Kardashians finally made the jump to film!"

creaturecat 02-25-2013 12:19 PM

the sock puppets were hilarious.
Some jokes were a bit on the edge.
I thought it was a decent Academy Awards.

That's the point at which I stopped watching. There is classier entertainment than that on Adult Swim.

There is no socially redeeming value to the Oscar's, never have been and never will be. Self serving ass kissing by a bunch of rich Hollywood idiots dressed like a group of flamers.

I am looking forward to seeing "Argo" but no use for the rest of it.

I thought sock puppets was pretty funny also. But I missed any remarks about the 9 yr old best actress. Did he really say what he's said to have said?? Please, noone would say that, would they??

I decided not to see it. Never much cared for Affleck, and this hasn't helped.

52 Hostages who were left behind still want to be heard.

Rick Lee 02-25-2013 12:44 PM

Since I've been to the movies twice in four years and woudn't recognize anyone on that show, I decided to scrub the baseboards in my house instead of be in the same room with the tv while Mrs. Lee pretended to watch it.

yes- they supposedly tweeted it?

the "getting inside Lincoln's head" comment was even less popular.

M.D. Holloway 02-25-2013 01:18 PM

As a promise, if I ever win one I will get up, say "Thank you" and hand it to a stage hand to pawn...

Prolly why I will never win one...

widebody911 02-25-2013 01:27 PM

I didn't watch it, but I heard about the boob song so I looked it up on YouTube and loved it! Unfortunately all but the grainy cellphone camera copies have been taken down.

While I'm a big fan of Seth MacFarlane, the fact that they chose him to MC the event tells me they're desperate to find any relevance.

Rikao4 02-25-2013 01:28 PM

was rooting for a friend..
and while she didn't get one..
the movie about her father did...
amazing story..(Searching for Sugarman)...

Searching for Sugarman.
that was a great doc.
Rodriguez never attended, because he did not want to steal any of the lime light.
He seems like that type of guy.

dan88911 02-25-2013 02:06 PM

I missed the first hour & half.
Jack Nickolson reminded me of Professor Irwin Corey.

I notice the lack of expensive jewelery on necks of the Hollywood babes.

Baz 02-25-2013 02:25 PM

I dunno Zoa....I really liked Adele's performance.

No doubt Dame Bassey's performance was outstanding [as always] but her song "Goldfinger' is a bit different than "Skyfall" and allowed, in my opinion, for a bit more impact.

I'm not a huge fan of Adele but thought she did pretty good.....
